Jujutsu Kaisen Has A Genius Explanation For Why Yuta Can Copy Sukuna’s Cursed Technique

Warning: Contains spoilers for chapter #250 of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen has finally revealed Yuta’s true capabilities, and the secret behind his Cursed Technique and his newest attack hints that he could be the winner of the battle against Sukuna. The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen reveals the sorcerers have finally managed to turn the tides against Sukuna, quite literally in Yuta’s case, who uses Sukuna’s own attack against him.

Chapter #250 of Jujutsu Kaisen reveals Yuta has managed to copy Sukuna’s Cursed Technique as well, using Sukuna’s very own “Cleave” against him. The chapter reveals the workings of Yuta’s Domain, which houses every Cursed Technique Yuta has managed to duplicate using his Cursed Technique, “Copy”, one of which is Sukuna’s unnamed Cursed Technique.

Jujutsu Kaisen Has A Genius Explanation For Why Yuta Can Copy Sukuna’s Cursed Technique

Yuta’s ability to replicate Sukuna’s Cursed Technique raises several questions about the workings of Yuta’s own Cursed Technique and how he was able to do so. While the series is yet to specify the prerequisites of Yuta’s Cursed Technique, these conditions could very well determine the direction of the battle going forward as its ultimate victor, with Yuta posed to take away every ace in Sukuna’s possession.

Yuta May Have Used Sukuna’s Missing Finger To Copy His Cursed Technique

Rika eats Uro's arm in Jujutsu Kaisen

Despite the climactic nature of the current battle. Jujutsu Kaisen still has many secrets it has yet to reveal, one of which is the secret behind Yuta’s Cursed Technique and what its conditions and limitations could be. While the series’ silence on the same could mean there are simply no limitations, Yuta’s battle against Uro in chapter #179 suggests otherwise.

In the chapter, Yuta gains access to Uro’s Cursed Technique after Rika eats Uro’s severed arm, which implies that Yuta may need Rika to consume some form of biological matter in order to copy a Cursed Technique. If so, the only way for Yuta to replicate Sukuna’s Cursed Technique would have been to feed Rika one of Sukuna’s fingers, as the mummified fingers are among the only biological remains of Sukuna’s original body.

Sukuna speculates Gojo has the last finger in Jujutsu Kaisen

Moreover, in chapter #222, Sukuna speculates that the last finger that Uraume was unable to find could be in Gojo’s possession. Hence, it is possible that this missing finger was given to Rikaduring the month of training before the battle against Sukuna. This would be the easiest way for Yuta to gain access to Sukuna’s Cursed Technique, while also solving the mystery of the missing finger, which hasn’t been mentioned since. More importantly, this could also explain why Yuta claims he “cheated” when Sukuna asks what he had been up to in the last month in chapter #250.

Yuta May Be Able to Copy Sukuna’s Unnamed Fire Technique

Sukuna creates a fire arrow in Jujutsu Kaisen

If having Rika eat a body part is truly all it takes for Yuta to copy a technique, then the current battle could spell defeat for Sukuna. With Higuruma having taken away Supreme Martial Solution and Yuta’s domain preventing Sukuna from using the extended Cleave that defeated Gojo, Sukuna’s only remaining ace is his mysterious “open” technique that hasn’t made an appearance since Shibuya. However, depending on the conditions of his Cursed Technique, Yuta may also be able to use Sukuna’s unnamed fire technique and fire arrow, taking away Sukuna’s only other trump card.

Overall, while Sukuna has dominated the battle at Shinjuku thus far, the sorcerers have slowly chipped away at his Cursed Energy reserves, setting the stage for Yuta to finally defeat him with Yuji’s help. Regardless, Jujutsu Kaisen’s climactic battle is sure to have many more surprises in store as Yuta and Yuji take center stage, putting their abilities on display at last.
