MAPPA’s adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen has been a surefire hit, and new data has solid proof that the immense popularity of Itadori and his Sorcerer friends have surpassed anime juggernauts like One Piece. In a report by Guinness World Records, Jujutsu Kaisen has the honor of being the world’s most popular anime. This means Gege Akutani’s work has beaten out longtime favorites of yesteryear, including both One Piece and Attack on Titan.
The statistics released by Guinness World Records were taken from the data-science firm Parrot Analytics, which focuses on analyzing entertainment data. By measuring “demand” through various forms of online engagement, it finally reached the conclusion that Jujutsu Kaisen is the industry’s most desired anime.
While One Piece and Attack on Titan still enjoy high popularity, it appears MAPPA’s reputation and animation quality still holds a special X-factor that let their anime win out.
