Judgment: How to Play Dice & Cube

Judgment: How to Play Dice & Cube

Judgment is a spinoff of the Yakuza series told from the perspective of a private detective, Takayuki Yagami. Judgment may feature a detective on the opposing side of the Yakuza, but many of the same mechanics from past Yakuza games are still present. Among these returning features are minigames for players to enjoy throughout Kamurocho.

Minigames in Yakuza games can involve anything from plucking plush rabbits out of a claw machine to managing the staff of a cabaret club. Judgment contains its own selection of unique minigames. However, one of these minigames is more fruitful than the rest. The introduction of Paradise VR, a virtual reality game center, enables players to participate in Dice & Cube. Dice & Cube, if played correctly, can net players millions of yen in just a single run. Yakuza games are known for their creative ways to make money, and Judgment is no different. Here’s how to play the Dice & Cube minigame in Judgment.

How to Play Dice & Cube at Paradise VR in Judgment

Judgment: How to Play Dice & Cube

First, players much reach at least Chapter 3 in the main story. Once players hit Chapter 3, they will unlock the ability to visit Paradise VR. Players can use a Play Pass to play Dice & Cube at Paradise VR. Play Passes are available at gambling locations in exchange for a certain amount of chips, or at the Batting Center, Puzzle Shogi, and Shogi as prizes. Players can simply buy chips at a gambling location to exchange them for a Play Pass, which makes a Play Pass technically cost 10,000 yen.

The goal of Dice & Cube is to reach the goal without running out of dice. Players begin the game with a stockpile of dice. One die is consumed every time the player rolls. The number on the rolled die represents how many spaces players can move in any direction (except backward). There are a few different kinds of spaces players can land on. The Dice Plus space gives players more dice, Dice Minus subtracts dice, Gift supplies players with a gift, Battle requires players to engage in battle, and Safe makes players lock pick a safe to receive the valuables inside. One more space, Warp, is only available in the long course. The Warp space transports players to an area with more spaces. Battle spaces require players to engage in one of several types of beat-’em-up battles, just like most of the battles in the Yakuza series.

Two bonus encounters are also a possibility in Dice & Cube. If players encounter King Kor-nyan, Yagami will be fully healed and face three Koro-nyan events. These three events will be either a destruction battle or a knockout battle. Destruction battles require players to destroy a bunch of objects, while knockout battles require players to fight opponents. Each battle stacks up points, which are exchanged for valuable items after the events are over. The other bonus encounter is with a thief named Kuro-nyan. If players run into Kuro-nyan, he will steal all the player’s items and migrate to another location on the board. Run into Kuro-nyan again, and players can battle him for their items back. Not only that, but the stolen items will be returned two times over!

Judgment is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Stadia
