Jordin Sparks to Star In Hallmark Movie A Christmas Treasure

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will star in and executive produce a Hallmark Christmas movie titled A Christmas Treasure, making its debut just in time for the 2021 holiday season. The Hallmark Christmas movies are a big draw for television viewers during the holiday season. For over a decade, the channel has pulled out all the stops to guarantee a constant rotation of films that bring on warm and fuzzy feelings for their viewers, following a predictable pattern where whatever strife characters encounter all works out in the end.

Sparks will co-star in the film with Hallmark alum Michael Xavier, who has appeared in two films for the channel, including Christmas Comes Twice and The Expanse, reported Deadline. Sparks began her career in film in 2012 in the movie Sparkle alongside the late Whitney Houston. She has also appeared in the television series CSI, Zoe Ever AfterThe Real O’Neals, and the television films Unrelated and Dear Secret Santa.

In the film, Sparks plays Lou, a woman who opens up a 100-year-old time capsule and finds her grandfather’s old journal. This leads her to question if she should move to New York after the holiday season to try and make it as a writer or stay in her small town of Pine Grove to keep her family’s local newspaper going. She finds a kindred spirit in Kyle, who plays Xavier, a chef who is a small town visitor and is also experiencing a personal crossroads. The couple connects, sparked by the magic of the season. Each will help push the other forward in their journeys.
