Some elements of the first Joker movie were left intentionally vague, but it seems as though DC’s first teaser for Joker: Folie À Deux has already shed some light on one of the film’s biggest mysteries. While some of Joker was left up to interpretation, other parts were a little more on-the-nose. For instance, the infamous talk show scene had Arthur essentially deliver the movie’s entire thesis directly to the audience. Still, Joker’s ending did create a pretty big mystery that audiences may have been wondering about for a while.
Joker: Folie À Deux was recently teased with a TikTok that may help clear up some answers about the first movie. The video features the first line heard from Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn, and also showed several still images from the upcoming movie. Hints from the line and images may be exactly what is needed to solve Joker’s original mystery.

Joker Left It Unclear How Much Of The Ending Really Happened
Several Scenes Are Shown To Be Arthur’s Delusions In Joker (2019)
Joker made it pretty clear throughout the film that not everything shown to the audience truly happened. For instance, there are several scenes of Arthur having a romance with a woman named Sophie, but it is later revealed that this never happened. Not only does this happen, but the ending of the film sets up a framing device that brings into question how much, if any, of the film actually happened.
The final scene in Joker is Arthur speaking to a therapist at Arkham Asylum. This essentially reveals that the entire movie was being relayed by Arthur to someone else. Arthur is clearly shown throughout the movie to have issues distinguishing what is real and what isn’t, so it’s hard to trust him as the narrator of the film. This left audiences questioning to what extent the events happened as shown and whether Arthur truly had made such an impact on Gotham as was implied by the movie.
Harley Quinn Confirms Joker Actually Affected Gotham
Harley Identifies Arthur As Joker In Joker: Folie À Deux’s Teaser
Joker: Folie À Deux’s recent teaser seems to support the idea that the events of Joker did actually happen, at least to some extent. Perhaps the biggest clue comes from Harley Quinn’s voice line, which identifies Arthur as Joker. The fact that he has an alias, and it’s one that makes Harley think he can do “whatever [he] wants,” would seem to confirm that he did have some ties to the movement going on in Gotham, however accidental.
The images from the teaser also seem to support the idea that Arthur committed some serious crimes as shown in the first movie. One image shows him locked up in a high-security cell, while another shows him being closely guarded by four police officers. Whether the events of Joker were as grandiose as they appeared is still in question, given Arthur’s status as a reliable narrator. However, Joker: Folie À Deux has already made it clear that Arthur has some effects on Gotham and needs to be heavily guarded.
