Jojo Magazine Reveals Upcoming Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Projects

The celebration of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure‘s 35th anniversary continues in its Winter 2022 issue of “JOJO Magazine,” a special magazine created specifically for this year’s festivities. The Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure magazine recently revealed its cover art, and now has started to unveil some contents, as well as upcoming projects in the Jojo franchise.

The first issue of JOJO Magazine was released in March and featured a Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe one-shot by series creator Hirohiko Araki himself, alongside short stories and light novel tales, behind-the-scenes looks at the anime and live-action Rohan Kishibe series, and more. At the time, it seemed like that would be the only issue of JOJO Magazine, but a second issue, due December 19, was announced a few weeks ago. Fans have been hoping that the magazine might contain some information on the start of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure part 9, tentatively titled “Jojolands,” but if any information is inside, that fact hasn’t been revealed yet.

According to reports, the Winter 2022 issue will feature a short story set during Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure part 5, Golden Wind, starring two minor characters from the series, Squalo and Tizzano. The pair appeared as villains, determined to stop Giorno’s group. The short is entitled “Witness for the Gang,” its name a reference to an Agatha Christie story, which may provide some insight into the story’s contents. The magazine will also feature another installment of Rey Infinito, a light novel that began in the first issue starring Lisa Lisa from part 2, Battle Tendency, and set in the 1970s. The light novel is accompanied by new art of this older iteration of Lisa Lisa by Araki. Additionally, a how-to book by Araki regarding drawing and structuring manga has been announced; the book will serve as a follow-up to his earlier book on the topic, which was entitled “Manga in Theory and Practice: The Craft of Creating Manga” at its American release in 2017. Other contents include more behind-the-scenes on the anime and the live-action Rohan Kishibe, as well as interviews with actors.

What About Part 9?

Jojo Magazine Reveals Upcoming Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Projects

No information on “Jojolands” has been revealed since the end of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure part 8 in August 2021, so it’s no surprise that anticipation is building. As Jojo fans continue to wait for news on the series’ ninth installment, it’s starting to look like JOJO Magazine may not be where they’ll find it. After all, teasing information on the next part of the story would certainly be an enticement to purchase the magazine, but unlike the first issue, there doesn’t seem to be much content directly from Araki at all. At the announcement of the Winter 2022 issue, it was made clear that the second issue was created due to the success of the first and wasn’t always planned to be released, although the continuation of Rey Infinito may suggest otherwise.

It’s unknown if JOJO Magazine will continue beyond its next issue, but given its status as an anniversary celebration release, it’s likely this is the last. Fans of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure still have about a month to go before the Magazine’s release, so there’s always room for more surprises.
