John Constantine Is About To Be Hired By [SPOILER]

DC’s John Constantine finds himself in trouble once again, and he’s not the only one. In Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #1, John quickly discovers that his ability to employ the dark arts is in need of use once more and the person who is about to hire him is one fans probably will not anticipate.

Although John Constantine is a self-centered individual – which even costs him the Justice League Dark’s home base in the graphic novel Forever Evil: Blight, people who are having problems with the paranormal and supernatural tend to go to him for help because there is no doubt he’s a master of the occult sciences. And even though John has a knack for making messes, people are generally willing to give him a second chance. But in the comic Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #1 when John begins to investigate what looks like fallen-angels whose wings are being ripped from their bodies, he soon discovers there’s one man who’s lost his wings as well – and he’s willing to hire John to get them back.

In Tom Taylor and Darick Robertson’s highly anticipated comic, John teams-up with an old friend named Aisha and as well as a cop named Gary and investigates a string of murders involving men who have had angel wings sewn onto their backs. The most bizarre aspect of the case is that for some reason, people have also been attempting to steal the sewn wings from the murdered men. Later in the comic when John, Aisha, and Gary discover the second brutally murdered body on top of the tallest building in Liverpool, England; John takes a closer look at the man and realizes he recognizes him. After recognizing the bloodied body as the prime minister, John decides to leave the area – knowing that sticking around will draw unwanted attention on himself. But when he arrives back at his apartment, he comes face to face with someone he doesn’t expect… the Devil himself.

John Constantine Is About To Be Hired By [SPOILER]

When he arrives back at his apartment, he immediately notices that the wards and protection spells have been destroyed, and considering John’s one of the most powerful members of the Justice League Dark team, it’s clear that whoever has broken them is a worthy opponent. And to top it off, he also smells sulfur – which can only mean there’s a demon nearby. As John goes further into his apartment and reaches his kitchen, he is lifted into the air by some form of magic. While he struggles to breathe and drifts above his kitchen floor, he sees the Devil eating his curry from his refrigerator and has one thing to tell John, “I want my wings back.”

For John Constantine whose appearance is inspired by a music legend, it seems that he’s about to be hired by the Devil in the next comic. It goes to show that John’s abilities regarding the occult sciences do not go unnoticed.
