Jessica Mulroney Resigns from GMA & Fired from CTV After Threatening Black Influencer With Lawsuit

Meghan Markle’s BFF and host of I Do, Redo, Jessica Mulroney, was fired after threatening a Black influencer with a lawsuit. For the rich host, this was one problem money could not get her out of. Now it seems that Good Morning America has followed suit.

Jessica Mulroney has enjoyed living her best life, rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. She’s been married to Ben Mulroney since 2008. The couple has been seen as a power couple of Toronto for a long time, with both of their families having deep pockets and family in high places. Mulroney herself grew up as an heiress, she is a descendant of the founders of Browns Shoes, which is a Montreal-based retailer that currently owns and operates 67 stores throughout Canada. Ben’s father, Brian Mulroney, is an ex-Prime Minister.

Followers of the story weren’t sure if ABC was going to take action due to how long it took to release a statement. Last week, the entire world banded together in support of justice for George Floyd’s death by participating in #blackouttuesday, where social media users posted nothing about their everyday lives but rather an empty black square to bring awareness to the issues. Instead, the couple went about their day, Jessica posting a selfie with Ben staying completely silent. As backlash ensued, she then added a video post that preached the idea that one should not just post a quote and move on, which is exactly what Mulroney did. Then Mulroney went on to post an apology, which can be seen below:

As of this morning, Canadian companies made it clear they would not tolerate Mulroney’s ignorant attitude towards racism. The host and fashion expert has been let go of all her duties that dealt directly with her Canadian jobs. CTV, Cityline, and Hudson’s Bay all wasted no time in kicking Mulroney to the curb after her altercation with a Black blogger. CTV released a statement saying that they actively encourage their on-air talent to practice respect and inclusivity. The station stated that they wanted to “amplify” Black voices, not mute them. The network also announced they would be removing all I, Do Redo episodes from “all Bill Media platforms and channels.” Check out CTV’s full statement below:

Funny enough, her husband, Ben Mulroney, still works as the host of Canadian Idol which airs on the same channel she has just been fired from. After Twitter users chimed in and demanded that Good Morning America take action, it was announced that Mulroney has decided to “step away from her professional engagements” which includes Good Morning America. They concluded, “She will no longer appear on our show.” Check out GMA’s tweet below:

It does not really look as if Mulroney has learned her lesson. Even as she apologized, she made a faux pas as she hinted at her friendship with Meghan Markle, which many felt was an attempt to use her connections to get her out of trouble. Now, Mulroney will leave her career with her tail between her legs and try to do better in the future. Now since she’s stepped down from her gig with Good Morning America, has been cut from CTV for her show I Do, Redo, it will remain to be seen what she will do in her career next. Though it’s clear with her connections and her family history, she won’t be going broke any time soon.
