Pauly D Delvecchio is being criticized by fans for giving his girlfriend, Nikki Hall, cheap champagne on their anniversary, as seen on the recent episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Towards the end of the premiere episode, Pauly decorated the outside of his Las Vegas home with rose petals for his one-year anniversary with Nikki. He also had champagne ready for the couple to sip together. Upon watching the new episode, fans were quick to mock Pauly for his cheap choice in champagne.
Pauly and Nikki first met while filming season one of Double Shot at Love. The two instantly had feelings for each other, radiating undeniable chemistry. However, Pauly ultimately decided to leave the season still single. While this broke Nikki’s heart, she did return for the second season, during which she and Pauly began to mend their bond. Following filming, the two continued to work on their relationship. Nikki even quarantined with Pauly at his home during the start of the pandemic.
While Pauly was just trying to do something nice for Nikki in celebration of their one year anniversary, Jersey Shore fans are now mocking him for it. According to Monsters & Critics, Pauly is being criticized for finishing off his romantic gesture with a cheap champagne. In the scene, Pauly had rose petals laid on the ground as he stood next to a small table that held a bottle of champagne with two glasses. Upon Nikki’s arrival, Pauly poured both himself and her a glass of champagne. Fans took a closer look at the scene and noticed that the bottle was Cook’s California Champagne. This brand of champagne allegedly sells for just $7.99. Cook’s California Champagne can oftentimes be found at local stores such as Walmart or Costco.
Fans could not believe this was Pauly’s choice of champagne. With a net worth like Pauly’s, there is no doubt he could have afforded a higher end champagne for the special occasion. Upon watching the episode, viewers took to Twitter to mock Pauly. One user wrote, “Pauly D getting Cook’s Champagne is the joke I didn’t know I needed.” Another chimed in, “Nooo not cooks for a One year Pauly,” along with two laughing emojis. More than likely, the purchasing of the bottle of champagne was done by production rather than Pauly himself. It is assumed that, if Pauly bought the bottle himself, it would have been a higher-end brand, such as Dom Perignon.
The romantic anniversary scene left fans with a cliffhanger as Pauly got down on one knee to ask Nikki an important question. While it is perceived as him proposing, many fear it is just a tease made by production. However, fans will have to tune in to the next episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation to see what Pauly asks Nikki. Hopefully, he was not actually proposing with a cheap bottle of champagne.
