Jeri Ryan Says Seven of Nine Becoming Captain In Star Trek: Picard Season 3 “Was Always Endgame”

Jeri Ryan reveals when Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas told her that Seven of Nine would become Captain of the Enterprise and her reaction. Moderators Kayla Iacovino and Jonathan Del Arco asked Ryan why she thought Seven of Nine was part of Picard season 3, unlike some of the actors from Picard seasons 1 and 2. Jeri Ryan: I think I can thank Terry for that. [In] the first meeting that I had with him pitching ideas for the season, he said, “Here’s what I’m thinking. She’s back in Starfleet, and we’re gonna end with her becoming Captain of the Enterprise.” (laughs) Wait, what? It was not anything that I saw coming or expected… Before we started shooting, that was always endgame in Terry’s mind. Which was pretty cool.

Terry Matalas: She didn’t believe it. I remember you were like, ‘No. What? No.’
