Mayor of Kingstown season 3 has officially been renewed by Paramount+. The show’s lead star Jeremy Renner, who is best known for playing Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, suffered a serious snowplow accident this past New Year’s Day that left him hospitalized with over 30 broken bones. The Paramount+ series, which follows Renner as the unofficial mayor of a crime-ridden town, finished airing its second season this past March.
Now, nine months after Renner’s life-threatening accident, Mayor of Kingstown season 3 has officially been renewed by Paramount+. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was quietly picked up for a third season several months ago, though a formal announcement was delayed as Renner recovered from his injuries.
When Will Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 Premiere?
An official Mayor of Kingstown season 3 release date was not announced in conjunction with its renewal. The industry is currently at a standstill due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The writers have been on strike since May 2 and until their fight for fair pay is over, creator Taylor Sheridan and the show’s writers room won’t be able to work on the scripts for season 3. Actors are also striking for fair pay and until they reach an agreement with the AMPTP, Renner and the Mayor of Kingstown cast won’t be able to return and film season 3.
The strikes should also offer Renner more time to recover from his serious injuries before returning to film season 3. In May, Renner shared on social media that he was continuing to make progress in his recovery and had started lightly jogging on a treadmill for the first time since he was hospitalized. Before it was officially renewed, Renner also teased Mayor of Kingstown season 3 on social media and said he had started mentally preparing for it. Renner should have plenty of time since, considering the current circumstances, season 3 shouldn’t come until around late 2024.
