Jedi: Survivor Is Hiding Its Best Cameo

Jedi: Survivor Is Hiding Its Best Cameo

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is hiding its best cameo behind a series of side quests. The highly anticipated sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order takes place in 9 BBY, following a more experienced Cal Kestis after five years of fighting the Empire. The game introduces several new characters to the Star Wars canon, and included the return of several characters from other media, such as Darth Vader who returns as another boss battle after his previous one in Jedi: Fallen Order. Vader’s appearance is not that surprising considering his role in the rising Empire at the time, but another cameo appearance of a fan-favorite Star Wars character served as a pleasant reward for carrying out a series of side missions.

Jedi: Survivor lets players explore several locations in the Star Wars universe, with far larger maps than its predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order. As with other open-world titles with an increased scale, developer Respawn added several side quests for Cal to embark upon, which can be accessed via the game’s main map. Some key locations such as The Archive on Jedha or Pyloon’s Saloon on Koboh act almost like hubs for side quests, with many key quest givers located in those areas.

The Bounty Hunter Quests Are The Key To Jedi: Survivor’s Best Cameo

The Bounty Hunter side quest sees Cal hunting down and eliminating 16 bounty hunters. These quests are unlocked on the way to the new planet, Koboh’s research station when Cal meets Caij Vanda, who explains that Sorc Tormo’s placed a bounty on Cal’s head, and offers Cal rewards for each of the hunters across the galaxy who he can defeat. Some of these hunters can be encountered throughout the main story, whereas others have to be sought out by players separately across the maps. Upon defeating all of Caij’s assigned targets, she asks Cal to meet her where they first met, which is where one of Jedi: Survivor’s best cameo appearances unfolds.

Jedi: Survivor’s Best Cameo Is Boba Fett

Caij, Boba Fett and Cal have a standoff in Jedi: Survivor

It turns out that Caij is a bounty hunter too, and by tasking Cal with killing her competition, she raised the price on his head. Caij then reveals that she plans on taking in Cal herself to collect the huge reward, and one of Jedi: Survivor‘s hardest boss battles ensues. Once players have successfully defeated Caij, they will be treated to one of the game’s best cameos: the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett.

A cutscene plays out after the battle against Caij, where Boba Fett descends using his jetpack. Caij initially tries to encourage Boba Fett to partner with her in taking down Cal and split the bounty – which considering Caij’s character likely would only end in another double cross anyway – but Boba Fett reveals that he is there to collect a bounty on Caij instead. The three then engage in a classic, Western-style three-way stand-off. Caij makes the first move but is quickly subdued by Boba Fett, who ties her up. She then asks Cal if he’s going to simply let Boba Fett take her away, to which Cal coldly replies, “That’s exactly what I’m gonna do” before the cutscene ends.

Although his cameo in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may be short, it serves as a nice payoff to the Bounty Hunter quests, with Boba Fett being one of the most recognizable bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe. Boba Fett doesn’t immediately leave the area after the cutscene ends either, and stands over the captured Caij, granting players the chance to let Cal talk to him further before Boba Fett eventually dismisses Cal if they choose to stick around.
