Jason Momoa Loses Muscles And Hair In Super Bowl Ad

Jason Momoa loses his hair and muscles in a hilarious Super Bowl advertisement. While the Super Bowl is one of the grandest sporting events of the year, it’s also a great opportunity for companies to create memorable commercials featuring stars. There’s no bigger star than Momoa, who is best known to audiences as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, the eponymous lead in DC’s Aquaman, and Justice League, among other TV and movie roles.

The actor rose to prominence with his emotionally resonant portrayal of the Dothraki ruler who married Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Fans grew to love Khal Drogo so much that they hoped for the character’s return, even after he died in the first season. Momoa was then cast as the titular comic book hero in Aquaman, which would go on to become one of DC’s highest grossing movies. Now, Jason Momoa is a household name.

In an ad for Rocket Mortgage that aired during Super Bowl LIV, Momoa talks about how his home is his sanctuary and the one place he can let his guard down. In a hilarious twist on the old adage of kicking off your boots at home, Momoa slowly peels away his muscles and hair to reveal a less muscular version of the star with far less hair. You can watch it below, or check it out on YouTube.

The commercial is a silly way for Momoa to poke fun at his famous hair and physique. What’s particularly funny is the last shot where the less muscular version of Momoa struggles to lift a weight that his wife, actress Lisa Bonet, picks up with ease. Although the ad isn’t promoting any of Momoa’s upcoming projects in any way, watching the actor on screen is a good reminder that the highly anticipated Aquaman 2 is set to premiere in theaters December 16th, 2022.  The actor appears to be a good sport, poking fun at his famous physique, in what is sure to be one of the most memorable commercials for the first Super Bowl of the new decade.

What makes the Super Bowl so exciting is that there’s content for fans of football and entertainment to enjoy. There were a plethora of ads to ramp up excitement for anticipated films, like the new Black Widow trailer, a trailer for the upcoming live-action Mulan adaptation (that highlighted new villains), and a Top Gun: Maverick teaser that featured incredible aerial stunts. Although everyone that was watching the Super Bowl for the commercials may remember that the Kansas City Chiefs won the game, they’ll never forget the ad where Jason Momoa lost his hair and muscles.
