“James HOWLett Is the WereWolverine”: Werewolf Wolverine Cosplay Is the Ultimate Horror Transformation

A jaw-dropping Wolverine cosplay unleashes the true animal side of the X-Men’s stalwart brawler. With animalistic powers and a propensity to slip into berserker rages when injured, Wolverine has always struggled with the perception that he’s as much animal as man – however, his lupine makeover settles the debate beyond any doubt, turning him into Marvel’s ultimate werewolf.

In an epic cosplay by hauntedcosplay – also shared online by photographer bryan_blvd – Wolverine truly wolfs-out, with a towering frame and ten new claws to add to his six adamantium pig-stickers.

Inspired by Marvel Comics and X-Men: The Animated Series, hauntedcosplay even got to show off the costume to Cathal J. Dodd – the voice of Wolverine on the beloved ’90s show. Not only is this amazing cosplay impressively articulated, allowing the WereWolverine to lunge at the actor, but it comes complete with a lycanthropic howl.

Wolverine Has a Long History with Monstrous Transformations

This Isn’t the First Time Fans Have Seen a Werewolf Wolverine

Wolverine has been transformed into a werewolf before – in Captain America #404 (Mark Gruenwald and Rik Levins), Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness #5 (John Layman, Fabiano Neves, Fernando Blanco, and Sean Phillips) and Wolverine: First Class #10 (Fred Van Lente and Francis Portella), as well as the S04E13 ‘Family Ties’ episode of X-Men: The Animated Series. However, for Logan this werewolf transformation is somewhat small fry – he’s also been the victim of countless vampire attacks thanks to his healing blood, and has made a recurring enemy of the Wendigo – a werewolf-like monstrosity he faced alongside the Hulk in his very first appearance. Thankfully, Wolverine’s healing factor is usually capable of fighting off even supernatural infections, given a little time.

For a while in the comics, it was actually teased that Wolverine belonged to a specific species of animalistic mutants known as the Lupines, though this bizarre concept was thankfully retconned out of official canon. Meanwhile, in Peach Momoko’s Demon Days series for Marvel, Wolverine goes all the way with a full-on canine form as the loyal hound Logan. However, this Wolverine cosplay can easily stand alongside all these previous efforts – especially in these special effects-enhanced images credited to @jestersforge:

Wolverine’s Werewolf Form Is Worthy of the Comics

Logan Has Rarely Looked More Fearsome

With other major lupine heroes like Werewolf by Night and Rahne Sinclair’s Wolfsbane, it’s unlikely that Logan will ever embrace the werewolf life for long – thankfully, @hauntedcosplay has shown fans exactly what that would look like, with this awesome horror transformation WereWolverine cosplay.
