Jada Pinkett Smith Breaks Silence After Will Smith Slap With Cryptic Statement

Jada Pinkett Smith has issued a cryptic response to husband Will Smith’s Oscars slap. Smith took to the Oscars stage while comedian/actor Chris Rock was presenting the award for Best Documentary feature and slapped him over a joke he made about Pinkett Smith. Rock took a jab at Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which is a result of her suffering from the hair loss condition known as alopecia, saying that he looked forward to seeing her in G.I. Jane 2, a reference to the Demi Moore film from 1997, in which Moore shaved her head for the role.

Smith returned to his seat after the slap and shortly afterward won the Best Actor award for his performance in King Richard. During his emotional speech, he apologized to The Academy for his behavior. Both Smith and Pinkett Smith were seen partying late into the night after the Oscars, but calls for a response the next day led to myriad statements being released. Smith issued a lengthy apology on Instagram, while The Academy condemned his actions and announced that a formal review would take place over the incident and that action may be taken.

While Rock has still not responded, Pinkett Smith issued a cryptic message on Instagram that reads “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” Nothing else follows the message from Pinkett Smith and it can only be taken for what it says, surmising that she hopes for all to heal over the Oscars slap situation and move on. Take a look at the message below:

Pinkett Smith got her start in the early 90s, starring in A Different World TV series, before starring in a string of well-known features, including The Inkwell, Jason’s Lyric, The Nutty Professor, Menace II Society, Set It Off, and Scream 2. The actress played the villain role of Fish Mooney in the Gotham TV series and also starred as Niobe in The Matrix franchise, recently reprising the role in 2021’s The Matrix Resurrections. In addition to her film and TV work, Pinkett Smith also hosts her own award-winning talk show, called Red Table Talk, which she appears on with her daughter, Willow, and her mother.

Pinkett Smith’s cryptic message feels in-line with her brand, as she’s posted similar examples to her Instagram before, which consist of a line or two of cryptic messaging. It’s entirely possible that Pinkett Smith’s most recent post has nothing to do with the slap incident, but it would seem rather oddly timed given the subject matter, no matter how cryptic. While the actress isn’t responsible for her husband’s actions, many have wondered what her feelings are on the Oscars 2022 slap incident as the ramifications of it will most certainly affect her one way or another. For now, healing seems to be Jada Pinkett Smith‘s feeling on the subject.
