Jackie’s Kid In That ‘90s Show Hilariously Flips Mila Kunis’ Casting Lie

Netflix is about to bring back the beloved characters of Point Place back for the spin-off series That ’90s Show, and the age of Jackie’s daughter in the spinoff may be a clever reference to a lie Mila Kunis told when auditioning for That ’70s Show. The new series will be set in the summer of 1995, so Jackie’s daughter could very well be around 14 years old, just like Mila was when the original series began. With the gang back together now with their kids in tow and the series being willing to make these parallels to That ’70s Show, That 90s’ Show offers a nostalgic summer holiday.

It has also been revealed that the father of Jackie’s daughter in That ’90s Show is Michael Kelso, played by Mila Kunis’ real-life husband Ashton Kutcher. While the name, age, and actor of their daughter have not been revealed, this does show insight into what has happened to these two since the ending of That ’70s Show, which could be surprising considering where they left off. During the finale, Jackie ended up with Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), who is also returning for the spin-off, and Kelso moved to Chicago to raise his child, Betsy Kelso. That ’90s Show will have some explaining to do as to how these two ended up together and had a daughter by 1995. The fact that the show would go out of its way to pair Kunis and Kutcher as well as possibly match their daughter’s age to Kunis’ when she first started playing Jackie shows that it is taking some pages from real-life.

Mila Kunis’ on-screen daughter potentially being a teenager in That ’90s Show could be a reference to the fact that Kunis lied about her age when she first auditioned for Jackie when she was just 14. This could be intentional based on the fact that Jackie and Kelso having a teenaged child, doesn’t necessarily make much narrative sense when considering the ending of That ’70s Show. But with the spin-off only being set 15 1/2 years after the original’s finale, the ages of That ’90s Show’s characters, including Jacki’s daughter, could be around 14, the same age Kunis was when she first auditioned.

Why Mila Kunis Lied About Her Age When Auditioning For That ’70s Show

When That ’70s Show began its casting process in the late ’90s, it was looking for adult actors, so anyone under the age of 18 shouldn’t have even been at the audition. Then 14-year-old Mila Kunis, however, didn’t let her age stop her from going after the part. When asked about her age, she responded that she would be 18 on her birthday. She claims that this was not technically a lie because she would eventually be 18 on an upcoming birthday in the far future. Thanks to her quick thinking as well as skill, she was able to land the part of Jackie Burkhart before coming clean about her real age.

Kunis’ character will guest-star on That ’90s Show, which means that it is possible the timeline won’t be dwelled upon too much. It doesn’t make much sense that Jackie and Kelso would have a child at this point, but that’s not really what the show will be about. The age of her daughter and probable inconsistencies with That ’70s Show cannon still has the potential to add an element of fun by mimicking the real-life story of Mila Kunis’ start on the show.
