Miller’s Girl has turned out a dismal box office low for star Jenna Ortega. The new movie stars Ortega as Cairo Sweet, a student who strikes up a complicated relationship with her writing teacher Jonathan Miller (Martin Freeman). Earlier in the week, the movie debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 33% aggregated from 39 different reviews, earning Ortega the second-lowest critic score of her movie career so far, just ahead of 2022’s Finestkind, which has a 28% score.
Per Deadline, the Miller’s Girl release, which is taking place in 350 domestic theaters, is projected to make a 3-day opening weekend total of $321,000. This is the lowest opening weekend for any Jenna Ortega movie given a proper domestic release. While the raw number being so low is somewhat natural given its limited release, the movie also has a per-screen average of $917, which is the second-lowest for a Jenna Ortega opening weekend behind 2022’s Studio 666, which had an average of $312 during its opening.
