It’s Taken 25 Years, But Star Wars Is Finally Showing The Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan Scene We’ve Always Wanted To See

Star Wars is finally delivering the relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn that many have wished to see for 25 years. Given that Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn was killed off in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the relationship between him and his Padawan, Obi-Wan, has been severely underutilized. Many thought this would change in Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2, but the series has not been confirmed as an upcoming Star Wars TV show. Despite that, a canon Star Wars book is offering what fans have longed to see from the Jedi duo.

Upcoming Star Wars Shows: Story, Casts & Everything We Know

Several exciting Star Wars TV shows are set to be released on Disney+ in the coming years from the realm of both live-action and animation.

The book in question is titled Star Wars: The Living Force, with Entertainment Weekly releasing an excerpt from the story. The excerpt details Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon traveling on a public cruiser, only to encounter a group of pirates wishing to hijack the vehicle for their own gain. While upcoming Star Wars movies will likely not explore Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in any capacity, this excerpt proves that John Jackson Miller’s novel will show the duo at their unrivaled peak.

Unlike any other Star Wars property, The Living Force is showing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan as a true Master and Padawan duo. The Phantom Menace had elements of this, but many would agree that George Lucas’ wooden dialogue left a lot to be desired. In Miller’s novel, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are working in perfect tandem, bouncing off one another with little to no effort.

This proves the level of trust that exists between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, something that will only benefit their connection upon rewatches of The Phantom Menace. As it turns out, Star Wars: The Living Force is set to have many connections like this, as the book will feature the core members of the Jedi Council venturing to a distant planet for a combined adventure before the events of the prequels. Through this, as evident by the excerpt of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, Star Wars will explore characters’ relationships at their absolute best.
