“It Rebuilds Itself Like Rot in Reverse”: Flash Just Introduced DC’s Grossest Healing Factor Ever

Warning: SPOILERS for The Flash #2

As one of DC Comics’ longest-running legacies, every hero who has worn the mantle of the Flash has seen things that nobody else could believe. From mirror dimensions that shatter the senses to hidden civilizations of super-sentient gorillas, the Scarlet Speedsters have always been at the forefront of exploration and discovery within the DC Universe. But the Flash’s latest discovery introduces fans to one of DC’s most disgusting abilities ever.

The Flash #2 by Si Spurrier, Mike Deodato Jr., Trish Mulvihill, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou finds the Crimson Comet going toe-to-toe with the entity referred to as the Uncoiled, an extradimensional being with horrifying power to rival that of the Flash. Focusing the Speed Force within himself, Wally rushes through the creature, seemingly exploding it from within only for it instantaneously repair itself as the Flash looks on and thinks, “It rebuilds itself like rot in reverse. Like magnets made of meat.”

“It Rebuilds Itself Like Rot in Reverse”: Flash Just Introduced DC’s Grossest Healing Factor Ever

Like many superheroes from a number of different continuities, the Flash is no stranger to healing factors. But the haunting abilities of the Uncoiled are more disturbing than anyone has seen before.

The Uncoiled Could End Wally West’s Race For Good

Ultimately, it takes the intervention of the Stillness to halt the Uncoiled in its tracks, but a creature with enough power to withstand the Flash should not be underestimated. Even after it’s reassembled, Flash notes that this creature moves like nothing he’s ever seen. And for a character like Wally West who has literally been to the edge of existence and back, that’s saying something. This is especially true given how much Wally has been struggling with his powers since the beginning of this new run on The Flash title.

But the real takeaway is just how disturbing its abilities really are. From what the Flash describes, it’s almost as if the creature is able to reverse its own timeline – not unlike the Reverse Flash known as Zoom – but with a more disturbing potential to its powers. Either way, with a healing factor strong enough to reassemble itself from being almost totally disassembled, any force that can keep this beast on a leash is a threat to watch out for. It’s only a matter of time before the Flash encounters this disturbing threat once again.

The Flash Might Be In Over His Head

A hero since childhood, Wally West’s version of the Flash is one of DC’s most experienced heroes. As such, anything that Wally hasn’t seen before is definitely worth keeping an eye on. And with a mysterious force pulling the strings behind a horrifying entity like the Uncoiled, the Flash just may be in for the race of his life.
