Is This No Hard Feelings Star Oscar Bound? Comparison To 1 Actor Sets Up A Promising Career

The success of the comedy No Hard Feelings has brought extra attention to the careers of its main characters, and the comparisons of one of them to an Oscar-winning actor sets up a promising career for them. Among 2023’s surprises in terms of movie releases is No Hard Feelings, directed by Gene Stupnitsky, and starring Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman. No Hard Feelings takes the audience to Montauk, New York, to meet Maddie Barker (Lawrence), an Uber driver and bartender on the verge of bankruptcy, and Percy Becker (Feldman), the super shy son of a pair of wealthy investors who is preparing to go to Princeton University.

When Maddie’s car is repossessed as she owes property taxes, she responds to a Craiglist posting from Percy’s parents. As it turns out, Percy’s parents are concerned about their son as he never goes out and has poor social skills, so they hire Maddie to “date” him and bring him out of his shell in exchange for a Buick Regal. No Hard Feelings got mixed reviews from critics but performed well at the box office, though it found its place at Netflix. The success of No Hard Feelings has brought more attention to the careers and talents of Lawrence and Feldman, with the former hyping up the latter, comparing him to an Oscar-winning actor.

In an interview with ET while promoting No Hard Feelings, Jennifer Lawrence was asked about a comparison she had made in another interview between acting with Feldman and working with Christian Bale. Lawrence expanded on that by explaining that she made that connection because, before filming No Hard Feelings, the most improv she had made had been with Bale in American Hustle, and she had the same experience working and improvising with Feldman, as he picked up what Stupnitsky threw at them and made it work. Of course, a big part of what made their dynamic work is the chemistry between Lawrence and Feldman, along with the improv skills of both.

Feldman Has At Least 16 Years To Achieve Bale’s Oscar Success

Although Andrew Barth Feldman is not a newcomer, his career is only getting started. Feldman is as young as his character in No Hard Feelings, being only 21 years old at the time of this writing, but he has already appeared in movies, TV shows, and stage productions. Feldman’s first big role was Evan Hansen in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, and in 2021, he starred as Linguini in Ratatouille the Musical, a crowdsourced musical that originated on TikTok and was based on Pixar’s Ratatouille. His most notable TV role is Antoine in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and before No Hard Feelings, he appeared in the Netflix movie A Tourist’s Guide to Love.

Feldman’s future is looking bright, but he still has, at least, 16 years to achieve Christian Bale’s Oscar success. Bale made his acting debut when he was 12 years old, and he received his first Oscar nomination (and win) at 37, in 2011 for his role as Dicky Eklund in The Fighter. Of course, it’s possible that Feldman could reach Oscar success much earlier, which wouldn’t be surprising if his skills and talents are already being compared to those of an actor like Christian Bale.
