Is Married At First Sight Season 17 The Worst Season Yet?

Married at First Sight viewers are watching the seventeenth season of the hit Lifetime show, but it may be the worst one yet. This season was meant to launch with five couples whom the experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Calvin “Cal” Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec, were supposed to carefully match together. However, the ball has been dropped, and only three couples remain in the moving-in section of the experiment. Emily and Brennan, Cameron and Clare, and Austin and Becca are the three remaining couples, but even two of those pairs are hanging by a thread.

Hopeful Married at First Sight participant Michael was left at the altar by his bride, who determined she was not ready to marry a stranger. The rejection devastated Michael and was a clear indication that the experts failed. Season 17 couple Lauren and Orion showed a lot of promise at first, but after some tense interactions and misunderstandings, Orion bailed on the marriage. While the experts tried to help Lauren and Orion not derail, they did not do enough. Now, fans are only left with three couples in a season that pales in comparison to Married at First Sight seasons past.

Only Three Married at First Sight Season 17 Couples Remain

The failure rate this season is already high, and the show’s quality has been diminished because of it. Viewers count on seeing five couples with five sets of unique problems, and they were robbed of that entertainment experience this season. The experts clearly either mismatched people or did not do enough vetting in order to avoid the situation this season is in now (via Lifetime). The success rate of the couples used to be much higher, and this season has been a big disappointment.

The Married At First Sight Drama Isn’t That Interesting

Since there are only three couples left on Married at First Sight season 17, more focus will be put on the remaining couples, even if there isn’t enough substance there. In seasons past,t when all five couples made it to Decision Day, the drama was more spread out, dynamic, and interesting. The entertainment value between watching five couples versus three is vast, and since there are not a lot of shifting storylines to go on this season, it is falling flat and seems to have the least drama out of any season of Married at First Sight so far.

Michael Might Return With A New Bride

The potential saving grace to this season may come with a renewed initiative by the Married at First Sight experts. They will proposition Michael with the idea of trying to get married to a stranger again. Whether his grief over his first experience will be too much or whether he’s lost his trust in the experts remains unclear. If Michael decides to give the experiment another shot, it could absolutely inflate the season and make it one not to pass over. If Michael forgoes the offer, viewers will be left with the three couples and their lackluster and predictable drama, potentially making it the worst season yet.
