Is Manifest Season 4’s Volcanic Apocalypse Already Happening?!

Warning: Spoilers for Manifest Season 4, Part 1

A surprising development in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale prompts concerns that the apocalypse is already happening. One of season 4’s biggest reveals revolves around the volcano Callings which have been plaguing the passengers since season 3. Apparently, these Callings have been signaling a volcanic disaster that will end the world.

Since the Flight 828 passengers figured out that the volcanic apocalypse is the answer to the Death Date mystery, it stands to reason that the characters have until that day – June 2, 2024 – to figure out a way to stop it. But in the closing scene of the finale, volcanic fissures could be seen all over the city. The destruction wrought by Angelina and her abuse of the Omega Sapphire makes it looks like the apocalypse has already started. However, the Earth still has a year and a half left before Mount Ararat’s expected eruption. The damage seen in the finale may be limited to the city for the time being.

Why Angelina Can Still Cause The Apocalypse

Is Manifest Season 4’s Volcanic Apocalypse Already Happening?!

Angelina may not have done enough to trigger the apocalypse, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be responsible for it later. The consequences of using the Omega Sapphire made what she’s capable of abundantly clear. What’s worse is that Angelina still has the means to unleash volcanic devastation on the Earth. While it is true that Cal destroyed the Omega Sapphire in their shared Calling, one of the shards survived and was burned into Angelina’s hand. What this scene implied is that she’ll keep at least some of her divine powers from the finale. If so, Angelina may very well be the reason the apocalypse happens.

How The Passengers Can Stop Manifest’s Apocalypse

Regardless of the cause, the end of the world may be preventable. After all, the Callings have been leading the passengers down their current path for a reason. Presumably, the purpose of everything they’ve been put through by the divine consciousness has been to save the world. Exact details on how they’re supposed to accomplish this goal are murky at this point, but Manifest season 4, part 1’s ending at least gave them a framework to look to in the months ahead. It would seem that whatever their plan will be, it’s imperative that Cal is at the center of it.

Olive and TJ’s historical findings yielded the discovery that Cal, as the Dragon, can “tip the scales” after being “touched by the sapphire” and save the Lifeboat. If that’s true, then Cal’s powers – and whatever additional abilities he may have acquired when he put his hand on Angelina’s Omega Sapphire – will be integral to Manifest’s ending. From the looks of things, Ty Doran’s Cal Stone will have to pull off a divine miracle to stop a volcanic catastrophe from wiping out humanity in 2024.
