Iron Man Created His Strangest Armor To Stop Marvel’s Unbeatable Hero

To stop an evil version of one of Marvel’s most unbeatable heroes, Squirrel Girl, Iron Man created one of his most wild armors to date. In Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up The Marvel Universe, Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers assemble to take on a clone of Squirrel Girl who’s gone mad. In response, Iron Man builds a new set of armor specifically designed to stop the hero’s evil counterpart.

Squirrel Girl might seem like a silly hero, and she definitely is, but she has proven time and time again to be one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe. Doreen Green has a resume of defeated villains that few of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes can rival. Squirrel Girl singlehandedly took on some of the most potent threats across the cosmos, including Thanos and Galactus, and walked away victorious. But when a clone of Green broke bad and wanted to make squirrel’s reign supreme over humanity, Squirrel Girl got an assist from Iron Man (and The Avengers), with Tony Stark creating a new set of armor to deal with the clone of the unbeatable hero.

In Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up The Marvel Universe by Ryan North, Erica Henderson, Tom Fowler, Rico Renzi, and Travis Lanham, Squirrel Girl meets a clone of herself created by the High Evolutionary. However, after seeing a squirrel get run over by a car, the clone questioned why humanity allows things like that to happen, which causes her to lash out. After getting his armor torn off him “like it was cardboard,” Iron Man assembles the Avengers to defeat her while debuting a new armor specifically designed to protect against and stop Squirrel Girl.

The armor, which Iron Man reveals to Squirrel Girl is built to counter her abilities since they were fighting her clone, has what it takes to beat the unbeatable hero. It’s got powerful repulsors and a seemingly squirrel-proof defense – with a squirrel face on the front to cap off the look. However, it doesn’t end up doing the job. Instead, the evil Squirrel Girl ends up tricking and taking down the Avengers, as Iron Man’s new armor gets shut down after she uses their weapons (including Hawkeye’s putty arrows) to take down his super-suit for good. So, while it had the firepower to take Squirrel Girl out, Tony Stark didn’t make the armor to deal with the Avengers weapons all at once. Iron Man had the right idea, but unforeseen circumstances stopped him in his tracks.

In a one-on-one fight, the defensive armor Iron Man built to stop the evil Squirrel Girl could have been powerful enough to defeat her. Like the many Hulkbusters before and after it, it was specifically designed to counter a single threat’s abilities. However, in this case, after the clone took down the Avengers and turned their weapons against it, it stood little chance of winning. Still, seeing Iron Man craft armor to defeat Marvel’s most unbeatable hero proved to be a lot of fun, even if it didn’t go as planned against the clone of Squirrel Girl.
