On his TikTok page, he shared his take on the Marvel Comics hero, which included a functioning helmet that closed just like Tony Stark’s. Someone at Marvel was impressed as they responded to the cosplay, giving it a stamp of approval.
Iron Man is an A -ist hero in the Marvel Universe, as he was one of the publisher’s first heroes and a founding member of the Avengers. Created by Jack Kirby, Don Heck, Larry Lieber, and Stan Lee, Tony Stark is a genius inventor who has created some of the most impressive pieces of tech in the world – including his numerous suits of armor, which he uses as a hero. Famously, Stark has a god complex that boosts his ego and amplifies his struggles, which has put him at odds with his fellow heroes. Still, Iron Man continues as a hero despite often being the one person who gets in his way.
On his Instagram account, cosplayer and prop-maker @Frankly_built showcased his incredible Iron Man armor, which brings the hero’s armor to life. The cosplay, which is inspired by his Model 85 armor, is practically flawless and looks like something the real Iron Man would wear, as it blurs the line between fan creation and something you’d see in the pages of Marvel Comics or the MCU. The talented cosplayer wore the armor at WonderCon 2022, where he wrote about the natural damage that happens when wearing it and how he embraced the “battle-damage” effect.
The cosplayer shared the ensemble on his TikTok page, where he showed how the helmet could actually transform just like Iron Man’s does in the comics. The video caught the attention of Marvel, who made sure to mention they were impressed by leaving an emoji in the comments of the video. @Frankly_built was unsurprisingly shocked by Marvel commenting on the Iron Man cosplay.
The cosplayer has to know he did Iron Man’s armor justice after Marvel themselves went out of their way to comment just how impressed they are with the look. @Frankly_built crafted an Iron Man cosplay that’s more advanced than most others, as it had some serious technical power – all while looking fantastic. The result was an Iron Man suit that even Marvel had to give props to, and for a good reason – it’s incredible.
