Invincible Season 3 Includes Two Returning Season 1 Characters Confirms Robert Kirkman

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Invincible season 2, episode 8!

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that two characters who haven’t shown up since season 1 are going to be reappearing in season 3. The animated superhero show has a large cast of characters, both heroes and villains alike, that get introduced over the course of the series. While many showed up in season 2, not everyone introduced made a major appearance in the lastest episodes.

Now, InvincibleHQ (via The Invincible Podcast) has reported that Kirkman confirmed the return of two major characters in Invincible season 3.

As illustrated by their post, the returning characters will be Battle Beast and Titan. Both were last seen in season 1, episode 5, with Titan’s story in particular ending on a cliffhanger that’s yet to be resolved.

Invincible Season 3 Could Be The Show’s Biggest Season Yet

Titan was previously seen taking over operations within Machine Head’s organization, possibly becoming a new threat of his own. As for Battle Beast, he nearly killed Mark and the Guardians of the Globe, but left after all the other villains he was working with showed signs of weakness. It’s unclear if the duo will be appearing together or in separate storylines. However, their return indicates how many villains Invincible season 3 could have.

Alongside their reappearances from season 1, season 2 also revealed the looming presence of both the Viltrum Empire and the Sequids, who still pose major threats to humanity. The ending of Invincible season 2 also sees Mark questioning if he’s destined to become just as ruthless as Omni-Man. This mindset could heavily impact how he deals with the oncoming problems he’ll be facing, possibly creating more danger depending on how well he’s able to handle everything.

Kirkman has also previously teased every episode of season 3 will feel like a season finale, revealing just how massive the next eight episodes are going to be. Titan and Battle Beast returning means much more could happen than what’s been set up in season 2. Perhaps the Flaxans will return or there will be a further expansion on Cecil’s uses for the Reanimen. With plenty of directions for season 3 to go, there’s no telling what other unexpected ideas will come to fruition.

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
