Invincible Season 2 Teases A Viltrumite Even Worse Than Anissa Coming In Season 3

Invincible Season 2 Teases A Viltrumite Even Worse Than Anissa Coming In Season 3

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Invincible season 2, episode 7.

Invincible season 2, episode 7’s Anissa teased the inclusion of a future Viltrumite, one worse than any Mark has encountered before. Invincible season 2’s Anissa quickly shook Mark out of a period of peace by trying to once again push him into serving the Viltrum Empire. Even going as far as to aid Mark in saving humans, Anissa was more committed than ever to enrolling Earth in the empire. Anissa helps Mark defeat a Kaiju, before once again asking him to ready Earth for the arrival of the Viltrum Empire.

As was the case with the other Viltrumites in Invincible season 2 part 1’s ending, Mark refuses Anissa and the two come to blows. As Omni-Man tried to tell Mark the last time they spoke, the young superhero is no match for the strength of the Viltrumites. Anissa easily defeats Mark and leaves, but not before warning him that another will come and be less lenient towards both Mark and Earth. This heralds the introduction of another Viltrumite warrior, one who is surprisingly even more evil than Anissa.

Anissa’s Warning To Mark Teases Conquest’s Arrival In Invincible Season 3

Conquest Invincible List Featured

The “other” Anissa is talking about is set up for Invincible‘s Conquest. Conquest is a brutal Viltrumite who is aptly sent to conquer planets that show resistance to the Viltrum Empire. Conquest’s savage nature is hinted at by Anissa’s words in Invincible season 2: “But soon, another will come. And if he finds you still resistant to your destiny, he will demonstrate the error of your ways and this whole planet will pay the price.” This proves that, somehow, Anissa is more benevolent than Conquest, especially when her parting words to Mark are “I pray you come to your senses before then.”

Conquest’s Role In Invincible Season 3 Will Be More Devastating For Mark

Mark’s battle against more Viltrumites will make him walk a dark path…

As evidenced by Anissa’s words, Conquest will be a much more difficult opponent for Mark in Invincible season 3. For one, Mark still finds it difficult to beat Viltrumites in combat. While Invincible held his own against the likes of Thula, Lucan, and Vidor in Invincible season 2, episode 4, he was still mostly reliant on Omni-Man to defeat them. Against Conquest, Mark’s inability to combat Viltrumites will be more devastating for him than it ever has been before.

In the comics, Conquest’s appearance causes Mark to once again fight back. However, this time, Cecil mobilizes the other heroes of Earth given he failed to do so for Anissa’s appearance. In the ensuing fight, Conquest is double-teamed by Mark and Atom Eve. Eve was previously wounded, however, and suffers more horrific injuries during the fight at the hands of Conquest who seemingly kills her. Mark flies into a rage and pummels Conquest. Despite Eve’s miraculous survival, Mark savagely murders Conquest by repeatedly headbutting him, hinting at a notably more gruesome storyline for Mark in Invincible season 3.

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
