Mitsuki and the team previously believed that these people had suffered neurological damage after interacting with the alien and lost their ability to communicate. Mitsuki deduces that they did not lose their ability to communicate and, instead, somehow learned to communicate in the alien’s language to mediate human-alien interactions.
Although the episode does not reveal what they are trying to say, it shows how they use binary code to make the alien language comprehensible to humans. In the binary system, information is represented using only 0s and 1s, where 0 typically stands for low voltage, and 1 represents high voltage. The aliens are likely using binary code to contact humans not only because of the simplicity and universality of the language but also because it is compatible with human technology. The aliens also seem to have created highly advanced interconnected technological systems. What Is The Military Doing In Idabel?
Trevante finally breaks into Project Idabel’s crater in Invasion season 2, episode 8. He also discovers that the military has captured all the people previously abducted by the aliens and is running experiments on them. However, before he can figure out what is going on down there, he gets captured by the authorities that run the place. Trevante tries to convince them to let him join their team, but they imprison him in the underground facility. The former marine is yet to find answers about Project Idabel, but it is evident that the abducted people are still connected to the alien hive mind.
Their behaviorisms seem similar to the ones who came in contact with the alien power source in the fallen Amazon ship. The military also uses devices to calculate the electric impulses and brain activity of the abducted humans, hinting that they are trying to decode the alien language like Mitsuki. The last few episodes of Apple TV+’s Invasion will likely reveal whether they have made any progress with it and how their end of the research will align with Mitsuki’s learnings of the alien’s language, powers, and motives.
What Happened To Nikhil In Invasion Season 2 Episode 8?
With humanity gradually losing its battle against the aliens, Nikhil faces the wrath of the world leaders and feels pressured to do something to stop it. Therefore, when Maya decides to quit her job at the facility, and Mitsuki shows signs of resistance, Nikhil panics and enters the power source room by himself. Invasion had previously established that high-frequency electrical signals had a detrimental effect on the alien power source. Nikhil uses the same signals to confront the alien but gets attacked by it. For a while, it seems like the alien swallows him inside its consciousness and then spits him out, leaving him dead or unconscious.
Although the episode does not reveal Nikhil’s fate, he might have died. What’s On The Other Side Of The Alien Portals?
Mitsuki realizes that the alien power source is less of a weapon and more of a portal to enter “the other side.” The other side seems to be a gateway into the alien’s consciousness, something along the lines of the upside-down in Stranger Things. Unfortunately, towards the end of Invasion season 2, episode 8, Mitsuki destroys the alien portal to save Nikhil. Since the alien portal could have been a means to understand the aliens and their motives, Mitsuki’s mistake might have significant negative consequences for humanity. Although Invasion season 2, episode 8 intentionally avoids revealing too much about “the other side,” it seems likely that it presents a pathway to the alien’s mothership. Time and again, the show has emphasized how the alien is more or less of a giant brain, with its technologies and other components being neurons connected to a central system.
