Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 is in production now, and Melissa Navia teases “incredible things” in store when Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise return. Navia, who plays helmsman Lt. Erica Ortegas, ended Strange New Worlds season 2 as one of the Enterprise crew members kidnapped by the Gorn. Resolving that cliffhanger is first on Strange New Worlds season 3’s agenda before the Enterprise can continue its five-year mission.

Ortegas & Strange New Worlds Won’t Be Visiting Star Trek’s Mirror Universe In Season 3

Melissa Navia would love to play Mirror Ortegas

Melissa Navia fielded a question about Strange New Worlds venturing into Star Trek’s Mirror Universe. While her answer indicated that there is no Mirror Universe adventure in Strange New Worlds season 3, Melissa was enthusiastic about the idea of Mirror Erica Ortegas. Check out her response below:

You wouldn’t want to mess with her. I would love that. Especially because I’ve never really played any villains and I would love to do that. I can’t even fully articulate how it would look… I think she would be a force to be reckoned with, and I wouldn’t want to go up against her. For me, that would be fantastic as an actor to play that. There is something about a villain that is captivating, as well as that dark side. So I don’t know what it would look like, but it would be pretty great, and I hope the writers are thinking about something like that in the future.
