‘Immortals’ Images: The Gods Have Style

Fans of stylistic sword-and-sandals epics are no doubt looking forward to Tarsem Singh’s Immortals, which will transport moviegoers back to the time of ancient Greek myths, for yet another tale about a hero’s rise in the face of conflict that involves both men and Gods. Basically, if you’ve seen 300 and/or Clash of the Titans, and liked both of those films, this movie is up your alley.

We have a slew of new images from Immortals, which capture the signature artistic visuals that Singh is well known for creating in his films (see: The Cell).

Check out the official synopsis for Immortals below to find out what the movie is all about:

Theseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.

The film was shot in 3D and promises to make good use of Singh’s unique visual style of filmmaking. The Immortals trailer featured plenty of “made for 3D” moments, including POV shots of arrows flying, slow-motion combat sequences, and “painting in motion” imagery that will offer plenty of artistic detail for the eye to absorb in three dimensions.

All that visual splendor aside – will the actual story of the film, and the performances of the actors (most notably leading man Henry Cavill, who will next portray Superman in Man of Steel) be up to snuff? Now that is a question that only the gods know the answer to.

The rest of us mortals will find out for sure if Immortals is worth the time and 3D ticket price, once the film hits theaters on 11-11-11.
