Iman Vellani, star of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel and The Marvels, has suggested her idea for the Marvel Comics villain that could be introduced in a potential Ms. Marvel season 2. Iman Vellani debuted as Kamala Khan in Phase 4 of the MCU, a Jersey City teenager who becomes a superhero after an ancient, otherworldly bangle unlocks her latent mutant ability. Since her debut in 2022, Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, has taken on the Clandestines, the Department of Damage Control, and the Kree villain Dar-Benn, but Vellani has now posed her idea for the perfect villain for the as-yet-unconfirmed Ms. Marvel season 2.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Direct, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani, a well-known super-fan of Marvel Comics and the MCU, suggested that Marvel Comics’ Doc.X could be an interesting villain to explore in Ms. Marvel season 2. Vellani noted that Doc.X, a sentient computer virus, would “really resonate with the Gen Z audience” of Ms. Marvel, which appeals to a younger audience than many of the MCU’s previous projects. Even though Kamala Khan has fought cosmic enemies and teased the formation of the Young Avengers since her Disney+ debut, the introduction of Doc.X in Ms. Marvel season 2 would feature Kamala in a smaller-scale story again.
Definitely Doc.X. I think that’s a great villain from the comics and can really resonate with the Gen Z audience. It would be so interesting—I don’t know, messing with kids’ psyche almost when you have this villain who only exists on your phone, and on your laptops, and on all your screens that we can’t avoid. I think it’d be really interesting position to put them all in to fight against something that you can’t even see, right? Yeah. Yeah, that’s one of my favorite comic storylines. So I would love to see that play out.

Who Is Marvel Comics’ Doc.X?
Introduced in 2017’s Ms. Marvel (Vol. 4) #14, Doc.X is one of the newer villains created for Marvel Comics. Doc.X is an artificially intelligent computer virus that was first created by a World of Battlecraft administrator known as Jacob. Doc.X first infected the account of “LeetSkillz”, using his account to interact with other players, including Kamala Khan under her “SlothBaby” guise. With each interaction, the virus modified its behavior until it had infected and taken control of most of the electronic devices in the greater New York City area, and had deciphered Kamala Khan’s secret identity as masked hero Ms. Marvel.
Doc.X used its knowledge of Kamala Khan’s superhero identity to blackmail her in an effort to upload itself directly into the SHIELD mainframe. However, with the help of Bruno Carrelli and Zoe Zimmer, Kamala was able to determine the virus’ weakness. Doc.X wouldn’t be the first evil artificial intelligence to appear in the MCU, but its command over electronic devices perhaps makes it the most relevant villain in a society consumed with screens, online gaming and social media. As Iman Vellani notes, Doc.X could appeal to the MCU’s Gen Z audiences, and could create a terrifyingly realistic storyline for Ms. Marvel season 2, if it’s put into development.
