“I’ll Be There With A Big Smile On My Face”: Hayden Christensen Confirms He’s Eager To Return To Star Wars

After a long hiatus from Star Wars, Hayden Christensen has made a powerful return to the franchise, and he might not be finished if he has anything to say about it. After the conclusion of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Christensen hung up his Jedi robes seemingly for good. Anakin’s fall to the dark side, coupled with the harsh criticism received by the prequel trilogy, seemed to mean the end for Christensen… until recent projects from Disney+ brought him back in Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka.

In an appearance on the podcast The Dagobah Dispatch, Christensen opens up about his return and how his reappearance in Star Wars compares to his original role in the prequels. He talks about being thrilled to receive the call from Dave Filoni about appearing in Ahsoka and getting to expand on Anakin’s character. When asked about the chances of his return for future projects, Christensen had this to say:

I would love to get to do more, I would love to get to continue with Star Wars. We’ll see. I don’t know what the future holds, if such an opportunity presents itself, I’ll be there with a big smile on my face. If it doesn’t, I feel really grateful for getting to come back and do the work that I did, both in Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.”

Could Anakin Skywalker Appear In Ahsoka Season 2… And Will He Return As Darth Vader?

Anakin’s shocking return in episode 4 of Ahsoka was more than a treat for fans of the character, creating many questions about the World Between Worlds and his role there balancing the Force. Anakin appears to Ahsoka as her old Master, but also shows himself as the powerful Sith he would have been without Vader’s bulky suit. As Vader, Anakin engages Ahsoka in a battle that ultimately leads her to the peace she needs in order to pursue her future.

Anakin’s ability to be a representative for both the light and dark sides of the Force allows him to make an impact that many other characters wouldn’t be able to, and the World Between Worlds gives him the unique chance to make appearances in the future. As Ahsoka’s journey takes a dramatic turn at the end of her series, Vader’s dark intensity, through flashbacks or another Force experience, might be the perfect teacher for lessons she needs to learn. Though Vader has been redeemed and Anakin’s physical body is long dead by the time Ahsoka takes place, there are endless opportunities for Hayden Christensen to make a return to Star Wars in some way.
