Iconic Tobey Maguire Spider-Man 2 Scene Recreated In Wonderfully Bizarre Thomas The Tank Engine Crossover

A bizarre and hilarious new fan video recreates a famous Spider-Man 2 scene in the style of Thomas & Friends. Though Tobey Maguire starred in three of his own Spider-Man movies and had a supporting role in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man 2 has been remembered particularly well as one of the best superhero movies of all time. As such, fan art, videos, and other multimedia projects continue to pay homage to and remix the iconic Spidey outing.

In a strange new twist on classic scene recreations, user Hat-Loving Gamer on TikTok has reproduced the Spider-Man 2 train scene in the style of a Thomas the Tank Engine children’s show. While the original scene is packed with classic comic-book action and a tense, heroic act by Spider-Man to stop a break-less train, the remix’s calm narration and absurd additions turn everything into a hilarious farce.

All the original scene’s beats are still there, but small additions like the face on the train and a random goat eating Spider-Man’s mask contrast with the original scene’s fairly emotional ending to create a perfect clash of tones.

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Legacy Proves Spider-Man 4 Needs To Happen

Though it’s been 16 years since Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 closed the Sam Raimi trilogy, the time still seems right for Spider-Man 4 to finally happen. The beloved series is still referenced and talked about to a degree that most other superhero movies from the era aren’t, and Maguire’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home proves that fans are still excited about more Maguire Spider-Man content. Raimi originally had plans for a Spider-Man 4, but the poor reception of Spider-Man 3 ended the series and led to the Andrew Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man films.

Raimi’s original Spider-Man 4 plans featured Vulture, played by John Malkovich, and Lizard, played by Dylan Baker. While those plans will likely never come to fruition, there are still several Spider-Man villains from the pages of Marvel Comics that haven’t been properly seen on-screen. Someone like Chameleon could lead a paranoid-filled adventure, or Scorpion could deliver the villain Homecoming teased but didn’t revisit.

Furthermore, Spider-Man 4 could be a perfect project should Avengers: Secret Wars rumors prove true. While Endgame featured an unprecedented gathering of MCU heroes, Secret Wars may one-up it by bringing together iconic characters from across the multiverse of non-MCU Marvel films. If Maguire returns for the team-up project, renewed interest could prove attractive for one final Spider-Man story to close out his narrative. If that doesn’t happen, Spider-Man 2 and the other Maguire movies are still just as good of a watch now as they always have been.
