“I Am Evolving”: Carnage is Officially Passing Venom as Marvel’s Top Symbiote, Killing His One Last Weakness

WARNING: Potential Spoilers for Carnage #4!Carnage stands on the brink of eliminating his final weakness, which would render him virtually invincible and elevate him to surpass both Venom and Anti-Venom in power. Should Cletus Kasady succeed in eradicating this vulnerability, it could profoundly alter the outcome of the impending Marvel symbiote crossover event, Symbiosis Necrosis.

Carnage #4 by Torunn Grønbekk, Pere Pérez, and Erick Arciniega, follows Cletus Kasady and Carnage in their relentless pursuit of “godhood,” as they systematically eradicate their various weaknesses. Their final obstacle is the healing symbiote Anti-Venom, who is already impervious to typical Klyntar vulnerabilities and possesses the ability to repel symbiotes, including Carnage.

However, Carnage and Cletus are on the verge of becoming immune to Anti-Venom as well, officially eradicating their last vulnerability and potentially surpassing Venom and even Anti-Venom as the strongest symbiote alive.

Symbiote Power Hierarchy Shakeup: Carnage Is Developing Immunity Against Anti-Venom

Carnage #4 featuring Agent Anti-Venom and Cletus fighting

Issue #4 portrays the confrontation between Carnage and Anti-Venom, as the two symbiotes and their hosts engage in a brutal showdown orchestrated by Cletus. Amidst the fierce battle, Flash Thompson realizes that Carnage isn’t retaliating but instead embracing the symbiote-repelling effects of Anti-Venom. Cletus then reveals he’s “evolving,” explaining that with each encounter, Flash’s Anti-Venom becomes less effective. This revelation underscores Carnage’s deliberate efforts to build a tolerance to Anti-Venom, with the ultimate goal of “absorbing” him. This calculated move aims to render Anti-Venom incapable of harming Carnage, effectively eliminating Carnage’s last weakness.

Due to his unique abilities, Anti-Venom has always maintained a significant advantage over Carnage. However, it appears that Cletus is rapidly narrowing the power gap between the two symbiotes. Not only is Carnage on the verge of developing complete immunity to Anti-Venom, but he also wields the potent “Darkforce,” which he utilizes to incapacitate Flash and Anti-Venom, ensnaring them in a void of darkness. The comic concludes on this cliffhanger, leaving Flash’s escape from the Darkforce-created void shrouded in uncertainty.
