Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Trailer Shows BOTW Champions’ Powerful Moves

In a newly released trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, fans witness the awesome strength of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s four Champions and their incredibly powerful moves. At the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, fans of the beloved series were treated to a brand-new teaser for Nintendo’s latest installment in the Kingdom of Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda has been a hot topic over the last month; from speculation and leaks surrounding Nintendo’s anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild to the recent surprise announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, fans of the series have had plenty to whet their appetite. Now, Nintendo promised to unveil new footage of the latter at the 2020 Tokyo Game Show, and did they ever deliver. In a newly released trailer debuted at the Tokyo Games Show for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s prequel, fans witness the four Champions of Hyrule as they battle the hordes of Ganon with a vast and varying range of attacks and abilities.

Players of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will know that after the conquest of each Divine Beast, Link is rewarded with a new powerful ability derived from each of the fallen Champions’ Spirits. In the new “Champions Unite” gameplay trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity from Nintendo, Gerudo Chieftan Urbosa displays her devastatingly powerful attack, Urbosa’s Fury on a mass of Lizalfos advance towards her, who are toast with the snap of her fingers as lightning crashes all around her. Revali’s Gale also features in the two-minute clip, showing Link’s cocky rival soaring above enemies in an icy gale before unloading a bomb arrow unto the helpless horde. Daruk and Mipha may not show off their renowned Champion powers in this newly released footage, likely as theirs as support-focused rather than attack-based even in Breath of the Wild, but their strength does not go undisplayed. In one scene, Mipha conjures a whirlpool that sweeps away a Bokoblin army, while Daruk can be seen to use the Sheikah Slate’s Stasis to freeze marching Lizalfos in their tracks before using smashing his fists down on the debilitated cadre.

The news that the Champions are playable characters is a welcome change to the Legend of Zelda franchise. Additionally, it is now also confirmed that players will be able to take control of none other than Impa herself, who is refreshingly young after her ancient appearance in Breath of the Wild, and Koei Tecmo also unveiled Japanese-language footage of her fighting style during the presentation. In the new Hyrule Warriors, Impa can use the same impressive corporal replication technique employed by Breath of the Wild DLC expansion  The Champion’s Ballad‘s final boss Monk Maz Koshia.

The new gameplay and story footage shown off for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity series has fans hyped for its November launch.  New enemies, supercharged abilities, and several unexpected playable characters is bound to entice even non-Dynasty Warriors fans. Thankfully, that’s not a long wait until the players can undertake the doomed quest to halt the Great Calamity.

The latest trailers for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity may have answered some questions, but it still raises several more, such as the story significance of the small, egg-like baby Guardian following the protagonists around Hyrule. Luckily, fans are getting ever closer to answers and satisfying hack and slash combat.
