Neferpitou, commonly referred to as Pitou, is the first Royal Guard and one of the most powerful Chimera Ants. After killing Kite, the humanoid creature becomes the target of Gon’s seething rage. Due to their exceptional loyalty towards Meruem, they surrender to the protagonists, so they can use their Doctor Blythe ability to heal Komugi. After Gon makes a Nen contract to achieve his infamous transformation, he ruthlessly beats Pitou until the Ant finally meets their demise.
With their edits, u/beenumeditzz manages to make the cat-like creature look more sinister than ever. While the battle with Kite is never shown in its entirety, the scene where Pitou caresses his head serves as a shocking confirmation of the Conjurer’s death. The monster’s smug expression gives a sense of dread similar to the one felt in Pokkle’s torture scene, which is arguably one of the most disturbing moments in the entire series.
Hunter x Hunter‘s first anime adaptation aired in 1999 and concluded with the Greed Island arc. In 2011, the story was rebooted into a new series that included the highly-celebrated Chimera Ant arc. While this part of the story contains many iconic moments, nothing can compare to the harrowing aftermath caused by Kite’s death.
