Hugh Jackman Pauses Ryan Reynolds Feud To Praise Him In Adam Project

Hugh Jackman pushed pause on his public feud with Ryan Reynolds to praise him for his new Netflix movie The Adam Project. The leading men have jokingly squabbled in the media for over a decade. It all began when Jackman and Reynolds met on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Jackman was good friends with Reynolds’ then-wife Scarlett Johansson. Jackman lightheartedly told the future Deadpool icon that he was on Johansson’s side and watching closely to make sure Reynolds was on his best behavior. As the duo’s relationship escalated, so did their ribbing.

Both Jackman and Reynolds continued to add fuel to the fake fire as time ticked by, jesting with each other in interviews and on social media. From Reynolds imitating Jackman in a video when he was up for People‘s Sexiest Man Alive to Jackman returning the favor when his pal earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the pair have kept audiences laughing. As Reynolds’ latest film The Adam Project hits Netflix, Jackman took a break from the jokes to pay his pal a sincere compliment.

Jackman stopped making fun of Reynolds for a beat to tell the world how incredible the actor’s latest film is. In a new Twitter video, the Broadway star recommends The Adam Project wholeheartedly, calling Reynolds’ performance “brilliant.” Check out the full video below:

Jackman raved about the entire cast and story in the video, telling families to watch it together. Of course, he couldn’t help but give a tiny jest to his famous friend, saying that it hurt him to heap on the praise. Reynolds himself retweeted the post, adding in his own mocking commentary. The Canadian joked that he screen recorded the kind clip before Jackman could rethink things and delete it. The loving moment comes after Jackman threw some pretend shade onto Reynolds from the film’s red carpet.

This is hardly the first time the dazzling duo have broken their comedic quarrel to show each other some love. In fact, in 2019, Reynolds called a truce in an advertisement for Jackman’s Laughing Man Coffee brand. Of course, that truce didn’t last long. On the upside, their ongoing joke has been used for good with the twosome teaming up to assist various charities over the years.

No matter what the rivaling companions say about another, their genuine bond always shines through. Since both Jackman and Reynolds exist as major stars in their own right, it’s no wonder why audiences can’t get enough of their banter. Though they’re consistently busy with respective work — Jackman is currently on Broadway in The Music Man and Reynolds is off promoting The Adam Project — they always make time for one another. The most confusing part of it all is why no major studio has cast them in a buddy comedy. Now, that would be box office gold.
