Xander Cage helped establish Vin Diesel as an action star, a title he has kept for years thanks to other movies and the sequels as well – and here’s where you can watch all movies in the Xander Cagefranchise. After working together in The Fast and the Furious in 2001, director Rob Cohen and Vin Diesel teamed up again for a different action world, which along with the first Fast and Furious movie, turned Diesel into one of the biggest and most important names in the genre, though only one of these franchises turned out to be consistently successful.

Released in 2002, the first Xander Cage introduced viewers to Diesel’s character, an extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman, and rebellious athlete always looking for action who is reluctantly turned into a spy for the National Security Agency, and who was also wanted by the FBI for protesting against a senator. Cage is sent on a mission to infiltrate a group of potential Russian terrorists in Central Europe, who acquired a biochemical weapon known as “Silent Night”. The movie wasn’t well-received by critics, though some found it entertaining but not bringing anything new into the genre. Its success at the box office made way for a franchise with two more movies, one in development, and a short film, though not all of them with Xander Cage as the lead.

Although the Xander Cage movies aren’t the most memorable action movies, especially compared to other Vin Diesel works, such as the Fast & Furious franchise, The Chronicles of Riddick movie series, and now his role as Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s still an entertaining franchise that could be brought back if a fourth movie is to happen in the near future. In the meantime, those who want to revisit or watch the Xander Cage movies for the first time can do so through different platforms. The first movie is available to stream on HBO Max and Hoopla, and to rent or buy on Amazon, Vudu, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, AMC On Demand, Microsoft, RedBox, and DirectTV.

The second movie, State of the Union, changed Diesel’s Xander Cage for Ice Cube’s Darius Stone, a new agent in the program who is sent to Washington, DC, to handle a power struggle amongst national leaders, while it’s explained that Xander Cage was killed in Bora Bora. State of the Union is also available to stream on HBO Max and Hoopla and to rent or buy on the same platforms as the first movie. The third installment in the franchise, Return of Xander Cage saw Diesel reprising his role, with his return explained by Xander coming out of self-imposed exile, though he was thought to be dead. Return of Xander Cage is available to stream on FuboTV, Peacock (and Peacock Premium), DirectTV, USA Network, and Spectrum, and can be rented or bought on the same platforms as the previous Xander Cage movies.

A fourth movie has been in development since 2018, and it’s believed that Vin Diesel will return as Xander Cage. Production was supposed to begin in early-2019, but there haven’t been any updates on the project. Whether Xander Cage 4 happens or not, at least fans of Xander Cage can revisit his (and Stone’s) missions on different streaming platforms and can rent or buy them as well, depending on each viewer.
