Die Hard may not be the typical, feel-good Christmas movie, and some people do not even classify it as a holiday film. Nevertheless, it is a classic for some during the holiday season in December, so many watch it to get into the spirit. The main reason why some believe that the 1988 action movie is a great watch for Christmas is that it takes place on Christmas Eve, so there are festive lights, decorations, and everything that one would associate with the holiday in the story. However, Die Hard contains no themes pertaining to the holiday, given that it is an action film at its core.
Bruce Willis makes his first appearance as New York Police Department Detective John McClane in Die Hard, a role which he would go on to reprise in four more movies in the franchise — Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Live Free or Die Hard, and A Good Day to Die Hard. However, none of the other films come close to the Christmas status that the first installment received, which is primarily due to what day it takes place. Thankfully, for those whose favorite holiday movie is Die Hard, the movie is available on digital and cable in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Unfortunately, Die Hard is not available to stream for free on any streaming service in December 2023. What Channel Die Hard Is On For Christmas Day

The Paramount Network will be playing a marathon of the 1988 action movie on Christmas Day. Paramount will be the only channel featuring the film on December 25th, though. But if fans want to experience Die Hard before the holiday, it will be playing on MTV in the weeks leading up to it.
