Zoom is now compatible with the Amazon Echo Show 10, putting the device on a new level. The video conferencing software is already an immensely popular and important communication tool, especially because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been available on the 2019-released Amazon Echo Show 8 since this past December, but the third-generation Echo Show 10 was released in February of this year.
Zoom announced last summer that it would be made available via apps for smart displays, including the Echo Show, the Nest Hub, and Facebook’s Portal. Previously, users could use the Zoom app on their mobile devices, or the Zoom client on computers, or some other specialized Zoom apps. Amazon Echo devices, meanwhile, offer a wide range of uses, in part through a range of Alexa skills. The Echo Show devices also already allow people to make video calls and, last December, a new group video call feature was introduced to Echo devices.
The Verge reports that Zoom is now compatible with the Echo Show 10 too. To join a meeting, users can simply use a voice command like “Alexa, join my Zoom meeting.” People who have integrated their calendars with Alexa can automatically join any scheduled meetings. As the most recent Echo Show 10 features a display that rotates to track the user’s movement, it’s likely that this feature will also be compatible with Zoom.
