How to Unlock Dual-Wielding in Serious Sam 4

How to Unlock Dual-Wielding in Serious Sam 4

Serious Sam 4 hasn’t changed the formula much from other installments in the series. It still retains quite a few Serious Sam staples such as the distinct variety of enemies, fluid movement, and multiplicity of weapons. However, arguably the most awe-inspiring mechanic in Serious Sam 4,  is the ability to dual-wield any combination of weapons from Sam’s arsenal. The sheer ridiculousness of this feature is unmatched in a lot of games today and lives up perfectly to the irony of the game’s namesake.

Unfortunately, dual-wielding is not available for players right off the bat. It takes a little bit of time for the player just to unlock dual-wielding handguns and two-handed weapons and it takes even longer to dual-wield weapons of different categories. Although a tad limiting, the decision to design the game this way does make sense because not every gun is available to Sam right away anyway. As the game gradually introduces new guns to the player, they can decide whether or not they want to be able to dual-wield them or unlock something else.

To unlock dual-wielding, players must acquire and spend S.A.M Skill Points in the Skill Tree. Players can find the Skill Tree by navigating to the S.A.M tab in NETRICSA. From the Skill Tree, it becomes apparent that players will need a minimum of 2 Skill Points to unlock dual-wielding of any kind. After first unlocking either Healing Punch or Looter Shooter, players can then unlock the ability to dual-wield handguns. Next, players can unlock the ability to dual-wield two-handed weapons. Players can then spend another Skill Point to unlock dual-wielding Heavy Weapons. Finally, for maximum carnage, Players can spend yet another Skill Point and unlock the ability to dual-wield different combinations of weapons. In total, it takes 5 Skill Points to unlock every dual-wielding ability in Serious Sam 4. Skill Points come in the form of curious purple orbs that are contained within various small wooden crates outlined in blue. Players receive their first point shortly after beginning a play-through, but besides a few orbs to help the player keep up with the difficulty, most orbs are going to be hidden in various spots around almost every level. However, for those who don’t even know where to begin searching, a good way to find them is actually undertaking all the optional objectives in different levels. If players don’t wish to explore too much then they are still likely to find enough orbs to suit their needs, but players that poke around the corners of the maps are sure to be rewarded. Therefore, players should remember to fully explore areas before moving on to the next.
