How To Solve The Costa Del Sol Card Carnival Puzzle in FF7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is full of puzzles, collectibles, and challenges, and the city of Costa del Sol is home to one such delight: its Queen’s Blood mini-game. This event boasts a Companion Card for Cloud at its end and more rewards along the way, so completing the puzzles is worth it. You’ll need the Companion Cards to get vacation-ready outfits, including swimsuits, for Cloud. Alongside the Card Carnival mini-game, the Queen’s Blood event also includes the Gold Saucer Mini-Game.

By beating each level of the Card Carnival, you will earn more cards for your deck, including the Tonberry King. Each round has its own strategy and perfect play. Players pass to the next by playing intelligently and using each card to its full advantage. With all its challenges, the Queen’s Blood Card Carnival in Costa Del Sol is nothing to sneeze at.

Where To Find The Card Carnival Minigame

The Card Carnival puzzle is part of a series of games that make up the Queen’s Blood event in Costa Del Sol. FF7 Rebirth’s Queen‘s Blood mini-game is played in previous chapters of Rebirth, but this time, you don’t face off against an opponent. In the Card Carnival version of the game, your opponent’s cards have already been played, and you must play your hand strategically to win the round.

As noted in a video by PowerPyx on YouTube, when you first arrive at the Card Carnival, you will have three rounds to play with Regina by your side. After you complete the first 3, more will unlock, but you won’t be able to complete all the levels until later, in Chapter 12. The small dock where the game can be played is on the eastern side of Costa Del Sol.

Round 1 – Cards del Amor Challenge

In this round, the board will be set with three enemy cards on the board in the back column. You are also provided with three cards: a Zu, Fleetwing, and Quetzalcoatl. Because two of those require a space with two pawns to be played, you only have a few options for your first move.

Place the Fleetwing in the bottom row and the Zu in the top left corner. Finally, you should place the Quetzalcoatl in the only spot you can, winning you two of the three rows and, thus, the round.

  • Reward: Card #023 – Fleetwing (Standard)

Round 2 – Cards del Amor Challenge

This round has a few more cards at play in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and you start with a few more on the board. Your opponent will use two of the columns, and a Magic Pot is already on the board. You have three cards: Fat Chocobo, Posh Chocobo, and Chocobo & Moogle. There is only one place you can play to start, so place your Fat Chocobo on the 3-pawn spot in the bottom left.

Next, place the Posh Chocobo in the bottom right corner, then the Chocobo & Moogle between the other two. The Posh Chocobo card gives you extra points, which is the setup to win this round.

  • Reward: Card #109 – Posh Chocobo (Legendary)

Round 3 – Cards del Amor Challenge

The next round in your Card Carnival adventure is misleading. You start with only three cards, but your Moogle Trio card will give you two more once it’s played. Alongside your Moogle Trio card are Fleetwing and Grasslands Wolf. Start by playing the Fleetwing in the rightmost spot, then place the Moogle Trio card on the left two-pawn spot.

This will give you the Moogle Mage and Bard cards. The Mage should be placed under the Fleetwing, and the Bard should go above the Moogle Trio. Finally, putting the Grasslands Wolf in the bottom left corner will win you the round.

  • Reward: Card #110 – Moogle Trio (Legendary)

Spears and Needles

Spears and Needles

For this round in the Card Carnival puzzle, you will have four cards: Cactuar, two Spearhawks, and Quetzalcoatl. However, players will see only three open spots on the board. Using the Cactuar, place it in the middle spot in the top row, then place a Spearhawk in the spot to its right. The second Spearhawk will go below the first and then put Quetzalcoatl under that, winning you the middle and bottom rows to hand you the round.

  • Reward: Card #031 – Spearhawk (Standard)

Sea Devil by Night

This time, there are quite a few cards already on the board, but the only one players will need to watch is the Mindflayer. You will have five cards: Security Officer, two Mandragora, and two Sea Devils. First, place the Security Officer in the bottom middle, where it will be destroyed, and leave three pawns in the spots above and to the left of it.

Place your Sea Devils into the 3-pawn spots that the Officer left behind. Then, your Mandragora will go on the left in the middle row, and finally, place your remaining cards in the bottom row along with the Mandragora Minions to power up the Sea Devil.

  • Reward: Card #032 – Sea Devil (Standard)

A Kingly Clash

Starting with six cards in this round, players will have to be clever with this one. Place your Zu cards in the top and bottom rows for your first turn. Put the Tonberry King card in the open spot in the middle on the right. Next, use your Deathwheels in the left corners, top and bottom, to destroy all the cards you have on the board besides the Tonberry. Finally, put the Mindflayer between the two Deathwheels, powering up your Tonberry King and winning you the puzzle.

  • Reward: Card #035 – Tonberry King (Standard)

Power-Down Practice

This final puzzle has no rewards and, therefore, no stakes, but completion-motivated players will still want to finish it. This one is a little simpler. All you need to do is place one of the Archdragons in the bottom row, then place the second one to its right. Finally, put the Quetzalcoatl in the 2-pawn spot in the middle row to win the round.

  • Reward: None

Congratulations on finishing all the Card Carnival’s challenges and moving on to the next step in the Queen’s Blood event. You’ve got some of the collectibles that the game has to offer, but there are plenty more across Gaea. Whether you leave some of the puzzles for later after collecting your Companion Card or stay for the completionist in you, these Card Carnival challenges are just a taste of all the mini-games that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has in store.
