How to Save Aitor in Dying Light 2

How to Save Aitor in Dying Light 2

Aitor is a Peacekeeper in Dying Light 2 that can be saved if players make the right choices during the “Aitor” side quest. There are a few steps to completing the quest and an important choice at the end that affects later parts of the game. In order to start the “Aitor” side quest, players will need to travel to the Peacekeeper Headquarters in the Central Loop’s Wharf district.

After arriving, Aiden will learn that Aitor is in desperate need of medical attention after the attack in Old Villedor. Aitor’s doctor asks Aiden to visit a healer named Margaret to learn about medicinal herbs despite his wife’s protestations regarding the use of herbs to heal him. The doctor warns that the wrong herbs or dosage can poison Aitor. Players must make the right decision with the herbs to heal Aitor, otherwise, he will either stay in a coma or die.

After speaking the to doctor, players can fast travel in Dying Light 2 to the Fish Eye station, then head to Culvert Island to seek Margaret out. A short cutscene will play explaining some of Margaret’s backstory and why some people are against taking her medical advice. Against the wishes of her companion, Gerard, Margaret tells Aiden to look for the Recluse Herb, which can only be found at night, and give Aitor the small petals to heal him. Margaret also warns that the big petals contain a deadly poison, and players will need to remember her instructions for the end of the mission.

Healing Aitor with Recluse Herbs in Dying Light 2

How to Save Aitor in Dying Light 2

Lawan will tell Aiden that the Recluse Herb can be found north of All Saints Bridge, so players can head to the marker there. The Recluse Herb can only be found at night in Dying Light 2. The petals glow brightly, so it should be easy to spot, and using the scan ability will mark them as well. There are chemical spills and infected in the area, but players only need to collect three herbs, so they should be able to run through quickly and grab what they need.

Once the three Reclue Herbs are collected, Aiden can return to Aitor and choose whether or not to save him. If Aiden tells Aitor’s wife that he went to Margaret, she’ll say the healer was lying and trying to poison Aitor. However, Margaret was telling the truth and the only way to save Aitor’s life is to give him the small petals. Doing so will make the other Peacekeepers aware of what Aiden did in Old Villedor, but it doesn’t drastically affect the story. Saving Aitor will also keep Margaret alive, and she will return in a later mission in Dying Light 2.

Alternatively, players can choose to give Aitor the big petals and kill him to keep the Peacekeepers from learning the truth. Killing Aitor will lead to Margaret’s death and other consequences later. If players choose the injection instead of using the herbs, Aitor will stay in a coma, but Margaret will live. If Aitor lives, he can be found later at the Fish Eye and will give Aiden a reward for saving him. Choosing what happens to Aitor may depend on what faction players want to side with in Dying Light 2, but, overall, saving him gives the best rewards.

Dying Light 2 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
