How to Increase Your Health in Psychonauts 2

How to Increase Your Health in Psychonauts 2

Players are able to raise Raz’s total health in Psychonauts 2 using a collectible found across multiple levels. In most traditional 3D platformers, players are able to collect coins, hearts, or another kind of main collectible to restore their HP. In Psychonauts 2, players are not only able to restore their mental energy in a variety of ways, but also permanently raise their HP. Finding these collectibles will require players to explore. Psychonauts 2 picks up where the first game ended, and unlocking new areas is a big part of the experience.

As Raz takes damage, once he loses all four sections of his brain, he will return to the nearest checkpoint. To replenish health, such as after one of the Psychonauts 2 boss fights, players will need to collect the bright green containers scattered around each level. Upon breaking them, Raz will collect the HP he had previously lost. Players can also look into purchasing PSI Pops in the various vending machines in the world. These are both temporary solutions, however. To raise their total HP, players will need to find special collectibles across the Psychonauts 2 levels.

In Psychonauts 2, the only way players can raise their total HP is by collecting Half-A-Minds. Half-A-Minds are dancing brain halves. Like Nuggets of Wisdom, they are rare, and only a few appear in each level. Players will want to explore each level thoroughly to make sure they find all of these special collectibles.

Collect and Use Half-A-Minds in Psychonauts 2

Once players collect two Half-A-Minds in Psychonauts 2, they will come together and create one new brain. This raises Raz’s total mental energy. The mechanic is fairly similar to how the Legend of Zelda series uses Pieces of Heart. In that game, if players collect four Pieces of Heart, they can earn a new heart container. Fortunately, in Psychonauts 2, players only need to collect two Half-A-Minds for it to count towards Raz’s mental energy.

Gaining additional mental energy is vital for taking down some of the game’s more difficult bosses. Players can also come across collectibles like Emotional Baggage, Baggage Tags, Memory Vaults, Nuggets of Wisdom, and more when exploring these colorful new worlds. It’s a reward in itself to look closely at every level to find the Half-A-Minds. Some of them can be out in the open, while others are cleverly hidden in dark corners or on high ledges. Players should make sure to use all Raz’s new powers to get around in this universe and avoid missing anything. Later in the game, players can unlock the Thought Tuner, which will unlock new paths to explore in previously inaccessible areas.

Psychonauts 2 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
