How to Help Cosmo in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

How to Help Cosmo in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

There are a few difficult decisions players will need to make as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, including a decision to help the space dog, Cosmo. These decisions make it so players can influence how Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy plays out, or how the characters interact. They don’t make huge material differences to the game, but Marvel’s GotG‘s most important decisions can definitely make the experience feel different. Sometimes, it can be tough to know what the right decision is to make in a situation.

Luckily, the decision to help Cosmo doesn’t seem like a tough one for most players. Not only does helping the space pup mean the Guardians get to see his happy tail wag, but it can also expedite certain activities near the endgame. Cosmo is the only other creature from Earth in all of Marvel’s GotG’s runtime, and he does put the Guardians in a sticky situation at the beginning of the encounter in Chapter 8.

The decision to help Cosmo admittedly doesn’t have huge consequences for the rest of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but helping the only other creature from Earth does hold narrative value for Star-Lord. It also serves as a pretty heartwarming encounter if completed the right way. In Chapter 8, Cosmo is found in Knowhere, and he seems to have been taken over by The Promise. It is up to the Guardians to snap him out of it.

To kick off the encounter with Cosmo after returning to Knowhere in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the space dog will trap the Guardians with his psychic abilities. As is the case when handling any disobedient dog, Star-Lord is left with two options: Scold Cosmo, or take the gentle road and offer his hand as a reminder of their friendship with each other. While it can be tempting to scold Cosmo for exerting force on the Guardians, to help Cosmo break free, Star-Lord must offer his hand.

This will make Cosmo begin to contemplate the situation and make him more aware that he is being influenced by The Promise. This is only the beginning of the choices that Star-Lord must make to help the space dog. After offering his hand, he should get Cosmo to focus on the present, and then finish the encounter by reminding him about the puppies.

After all of these decisions have been made, Cosmo will be freed of The Promise, which will allow him to help the Guardians later. This results in the group being able to skip a puzzle near the endgame, expediting the storyline a little as a reward for helping a friend of Star-Lord’s from Earth. Helping Cosmo is ultimately a great way to see Marvel’s GotG’s post-credits scene even sooner.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
