How to Get (& Use) Super Item Enhancers in Pokémon Unite

Super Item Enhancers are a new, rare item introduced in Pokémon Unite Season 2 that can boost Held Items. Along with new Pokémon like Mamoswine, Sylveon, and a Festival Style Pikachu joining the roster, Pokémon Unite is also tackling one of its biggest critiques: that it is pay-to-win. This critique is due in part to the game’s Item Enhancers. These allow players to make their Held Items stronger, but it takes a while for players to unlock a sufficient amount. Instead, players can put money down to purchase as many Item Enhancers as they need without the wait, making their teams stronger than those of free-to-play players. Super Item Enhancers are Pokémon Unite’s answer to this issue.

With Super Item Enhancers, players are able to change the level of a single Held Item to grade 30. Not only that, but if players already used normal Item Enhancers on an item and use the Super Item Enhancers on the same item, the original Item Enhancers will return to the player’s inventory. This way, they can invest those Item Enhancers into a different item if they’d like.

Super Item Enhancers are incredibly valuable and can change an entire player’s setup within just a few minutes. Because of this, Super Item Enhancers are only available through special event challenges, and in extremely limited quantities. This is how players can claim them.

Since the U.I is a bit different for Pokémon Unite Season 2, players can head over to their main menu and go to the top left icon on the screen. From here, they should scroll down to the Events tab and scroll down again to Super Held Item Enhancement missions. There will be three different challenges for players to complete, each of which rewards a single Super Item Enhancer.

  • Reach Trainer level 10: 1 Super Item Enhancer.
  • Reach Trainer level 12: 1 Super Item Enhancer.
  • Reach Trainer Level 14: 1 Super Item Enhancer.

Players who were aggressive in Season 1 most likely have already crossed these level thresholds. This event also does not have an expiration date, so it’s likely that players can aim for level 14 at their own pace without losing the chance to collect these items. Currently, this is the only way to obtain Super Item Enhancers.

Players can use Super Item Enhancers on any Held Items, but there are a few that will benefit significantly from enhancement and give players a greater competitive edge. These include:

  • Muscle Band: When basic attacks hit, the damage is increased by 2% of the opposing Pokémon’s remaining HP.
  • Buddy Barrier: When a Pokémon uses their Unite Move, that Pokémon and the nearby ally Pokémon with the lowest HP are each granted a shield equal to 40% of their max HP.
  • Focus Band: When the Pokémon drops to Low HP, each second for three seconds, it recovers 11% of the HP it has lost.

These items work well with almost every Pokémon. Players can now also use their old Item Enhancers to improve other Held Items. The pay-to-win messaging that Pokémon Unite initially created is finally being challenged, and this is a good thing for the game’s competition and longevity.
