Ascending characters and Light Cones are an important part of progression in Honkai: Star Rail, as players get materials such as Ancient Parts to upgrade their favorite party members for higher level battles. Different amounts of Ancient Parts are needed to improve characters such as Hook and Natasha, leading players to want more than they might expect. Although the Synthesizer can transform other materials into Parts, it is far easier to collect this item from the world.

Only four characters actually use Ancient Parts for Ascension, but each of them uses a different amount of material to accomplish this. Hook, Natasha, Clara, and Sampo must use some number of Ancient Parts to evolve into stronger versions of themselves. By only having these select few to upgrade with Ancient Parts, players should only farm as much of the material as they must, unless they are looking to also ascend Light Cones.

How to Collect Ancient Parts

Unlike Stellar Jade in Honkai: Star Rail or other premium items, Ancient Parts are found frequently dropped from defeated enemies in certain zones. Within the Great Mine, both the Automaton Grizzly and Direwolf enemy types drop an Ancient Part when beaten. Similarly, Automaton Spiders and Direwolfs found in the Robot Settlement also give this material when taken down. Frigids and Searing Prowlers do the same in the Simulated Universe region as well.

Another simple way to collect Ancient Parts comes by visiting the Ember Exchange Store and purchasing the material. Around 40 Ancient Parts are available for sale here, but players have to pay 4 Undying Embers in exchange for 3 Ancient Parts. If players happen to exhaust the store’s stock of Parts, the amount the Store has doesn’t replenish until the weekly reset.

The final method players can try is perhaps the most expensive, involving the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express. Trading any two of a two-star Trace material for character Ascension lets players collect 1 Ancient Part. Since this process spends more items to only get one of the materials in return, players should exhaust other methods before trying this.

How to Use Ancient Parts with Light Cones

Light Cones are vital for building a team in Honkai: Star Rail, but players may find that only a limited number of these may be ascended using Ancient Parts. The Light Cones that use Ancient Parts to ascend are:

  • Void
  • The Birth of the Self
  • We Will Meet Again
  • Planetary Rendezvous
  • Make the World Clamor
  • Eyes of the Prey
  • Loop
  • Something Irreplaceable

Since each of these Light Cones have the potential to boost elemental attack damage, critical hit effectiveness, and other stats, players might want to explore their ascended forms if they fit whatever roster they are trying to make. Learning how to get Ancient Parts in Honkai: Star Rail gives players an opportunity to become stronger, especially as foes become more difficult in the game’s later stages.
