How to Find (& Catch) Legendary Lugia in Pokémon: Crown Tundra DLC

How to Find (& Catch) Legendary Lugia in Pokémon: Crown Tundra DLC

Lugia is making a return in the Pokemon: Crown Tundra DLC. This guide will help players locate and capture it. The Pokemon: Sword and Shield expansion pass has finally released its second half with the Crown Tundra. This location features tons of new legendary Pokemon to capture, over 100 older Pokemon from previous generations, a new story scenario, and dozens of hidden islands for players to find in the snow. One of the biggest additions in the game is the ability to capture tons of legendary Pokemon from previous generations by participating in the new Dynamax Adventure. This guide will help players locate and capture the legendary Pokemon, Lugia.

Lugia is a box art Pokemon from the second generation with Pokemon Silver and the fourth generation’s Pokemon Soul Silver. Lugia is known to be the Pokemon that is the protector of the sea. In the Pokemon 2000 anime film, Lugia is the one to stop the violence between the legendary birds, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres with the help of Ash Ketchum. Not only that, but Lugia has made several appearances throughout many Pokemon merchandising, video games, and trading card games. Now, Lugia and many other legendary Pokemon have made their appearance in the newest DLC. Here’s how players can capture Lugia in Pokemon: Crown Tundra DLC.

To capture Lugia, the player will need to participate in Dynamax Adventures, one of the newer mechanics from the DLC. In Dynamax Adventures, up to four players will work together with their rental Pokemon, selecting different paths and swapping Pokemon as they make their way deeper into the cavern. At the end of the cavern, the player will be given an opportunity to capture a legendary Pokemon. The first legendary Pokemon players will encounter is Suicune, another Pokemon from the second generation. Keep participating in Dynamax Adventures until Lugia appears. It is completely random which legendary Pokemon will appear at the end of the tunnel.

Pokemon: Sword & Shield will likely come to a close in the near future with the release of its final DLC. There are currently no plans to release any more DLC for the region. The DLC has been a pleasant surprise from the Pokemon Company and will hopefully remain as the standard for releasing new content in the future. The developers will likely move forwards towards a new mainline entry or a remake of a previous generation like they have in the past. Regardless, the Galar region is now completed with the release of its last DLC.

Pokemon: Crown Tundra DLC is available now on Nintendo Switch.
