Everyone has photos on their phones that no one ever sees, and TikTok’s Photo Swipe feature is a great way to dive into the archive of old, unused pictures and put them to use. In the last year, TikTok has had several photo trends surface on its platform, namely, the Teenage Dirtbag Trend. The hype had everyone digging through Myspace-era photos and even celebrities sharing their grunge, punk, and emo adolescent days. Even for those who never went through such a phase, Photo Swipe is a great way to share more recent photos, too.
To participate in the Photo Swipe trend, start by opening TikTok and creating a new video. Choose ‘Add Sound‘ from the top and get creative. Find a sound that fits the aesthetic of the photos stored on the phone. Now it’s time to photo dump. Once the sound has been selected, the screen will display the recording screen. Tap the ‘Upload‘ feature to the right of the record button. Finally, sort through the photos and find all the pictures that will be included. Now tap ‘Next‘ on the bottom right. A recording will automatically render all the photos into a recording by scrolling through each image in a swipe-like fashion.
Make Pictures Swipe Faster On TikTok
While in the Upload section of TikTok, there are two options. The app is auto-set to start in Video Mode, and that is the setting most people do the photo trend on. However, users can also tap the ‘Switch to Photo Mode‘ button near the bottom, so they can edit each photo in the post individually. In both cases, the photos will transition automatically, and users don’t have the option to adjust how long each photo in the carousel is shown. Due to their swipe transition feature, the above methods are associated with the Photo Swipe Trend.
However, like every other phenomenon on TikTok, there is plenty of room for artistic creativity. For example, the Effects menu contains a slideshow filter. The filter gives users more control over the transitions, including extending or shortening the time between changes. This is a good option for users who aren’t happy with the automatic timing. With the Slideshow effect, users can choose the exact pace of the photos. After selecting the Effect, they’ll be prompted to choose photos. Then, users should tap the timer icon so the app will begin recording, and tap through the pictures at the desired pace. They’ll then cycle through accordingly.
However, Slideshow doesn’t have a swipe appearance. Instead, this option offers a quick cut to the following picture. In some cases, though, this is the most suitable choice. No matter the chosen method, this trend is a fun way to dump all the photos on TikTok that have been collecting dust.
