How To Create Your Own Outpost XP Farm In Starfield

How To Create Your Own Outpost XP Farm In Starfield

<

Gaining XP fast in Starfield is possible through taking advantage of using an Outpost as a farm. This can be done very early in the game, so long as the player has gained enough credits or resources to build a little infrastructure. This is a very fast system to earn levels in order to build an OP character with the XP gained from the Outpost.

Gaining levels fast in Starfield is possible in a number of ways, but using an Outpost as an XP farm is a way to do it with very little effort and the player can gain back the resources to acquire the Outpost farm by selling what they make. This particular method was inspired by YouTuber Astrosive, and we will outline his process and add some helpful tips as to what else players will need to make it the most successful Outpost XP farm they can.

Resources Needed To Build The Outpost XP Farm

Outposts are a good way to have commercial success making money easy in Starfield, and this can be done from the start of the game just by using one Outpost to generate the resources needed to build simple parts. However, players will first have to earn some credits or find some materials in the world. It’s possible to find all of these resources without spending credits simply through exploration, but the table below lists the costs of each resource based on the UC Distribution Center Vendor in New Atlantis’ prices.

It is likely by the time players have visited the Lodge that they have some resources already, either from looting dead enemies or by mining some of the materials available on the planets you visit in the opening hours of the game. It is very possible that players already have small stacks of Aluminum and Iron in their personal or ship storage.

Additionally, while the above table lists the recommended number of resources for the entire XP farm, it is possible to get these in a slightly slower fashion. Players can get enough resources to get one extractor for each material and earn the required amounts of Aluminum and Iron very quickly. Those can then be built into parts and sold to get the credits for the other materials, which will also earn the player a fair amount of XP alone.

Finding The Right Location In Starfield

Players will want to find and mark the spot for the Outpost before they over-encumber themselves with the heavy resources unless they have utilized their ship’s storage to hold it for them. Finding the right spot to build the Outpost is important, as players will want to find a location with both Aluminum and Iron in close proximity.

The aforementioned YouTuber Astrosive suggests the moon of Andraphon in the Narion System. On Andraphon there are veins of Aluminum and Iron close together that can be mined within a single Outpost. Find a spot where it appears the mountains meet the desert, which can be ascertained by moving the cursor over the planet until you can see both environments highlighted by barely moving it at all.

Land and inspect the terrain, if it looks like there’s a clear border nearby it is worth scanning for the resources. If not, try another spot and search until you can find both biomes touching each other. Make a save file and then place an Outpost beacon in the middle of two veins of minerals so that the Outpost will contain both. Check by entering the overhead view that both veins are contained, if not, load the previous save file and adjust the beacon placement until that is the case.

Building The XP Farm

After that, it is a case of building a mining operation on both mineral veins. Build a fair amount – five to six – of extractors on each vein, and then build 10 to 20 storage containers directly next to each set of extractors. Connect each set of extractors to the set of storage containers closest to them so that there is a direct and separate storage system for each material. This allows more of each material to be stored until it is at max capacity.

All of this will also need power, so build Solar Arrays until you have enough to make up for the power difference, and then go to bed and when you wake up the next day there will be resources gathered. At that point, use the resources acquired to build as many Adaptive Frames as possible using an Industrial Workbench. This is where the XP will come from, and the frames can be used to either build more infrastructure or sold to make more credits. If you have managed to get married to a companion your XP output will increase since you are sleeping between each crafting session.

This alone can make the player gain around 100 levels within an hour or so of real-life time, most of which is spent sleeping in the game to make time pass. This means players can earn the levels mostly passively, and do something else while they wait for time to pass. However, there are a couple of other things that might make this easier.

First, using the Research Table can help earn the resources needed, and the Tier 1 Science Skill Research Methods will allow players to unlock options and use fewer materials to craft and research items. This means you won’t need quite as many materials and there are options for Outpost Research that will upgrade your Outpost, particularly by getting upgraded Extractors. This can allow you to extract the resources faster and make more Adaptive Frames and Outpost infrastructure.

As you gain more and more resources from the Extractors and credits from potentially selling the frames, and if you level up enough to take more Science Perks toward the Outpost Engineering Perk, players can build upgraded Extractors to get even more resources and level up even faster. Continuing to research more options will earn even more, and potentially make even more XP in Starfield.
