How to Beat the Lord of Doors in Death’s Door (Boss Fight)

How to Beat the Lord of Doors in Death’s Door (Boss Fight)

During the course of Death’s Door players will encounter a great many challenges that attempt to prevent them from progressing further in the game. Players will need to fight their way through many deadly enemies, a series of different puzzles, and even learn how to operate powerful weapons against more complicated threats. It is the kind of game that forces players to think a lot, but also tests their reaction speed.

The most difficult portions of the game are the series of boss battles that Death’s Door throws at the player. Much like the Darks Souls series, these will test all of the skills that the player has learned thus far, and can therefore be a pain to complete. The toughest boss in the whole game is the final one, The Lord of Doors. This guide shows players how to bring the Lord of Doors down for good.

Death’s Door: How to Beat the Lord of Doors

How to Beat the Lord of Doors in Death’s Door (Boss Fight)

Defeating the Lord of Doors in Death’s Door is no easy feat for players to complete. As the final boss of the game, he is actually a pretty tough fighter, so players need to be very careful when facing off against him and they will want to be fully upgraded. There are several different phases to the fight, and each one of them has some kind of new surprise. The overall trick is to know what attacks the boss is going to use during each phase, and to try and avoid damage in the easier parts to ensure that they can take more hits later in the fight.

Phase 1 – During the first phase of the fight, the Lord of Doors will throw himself directly at the player and try to attack with a three-punch combo. Dodge backward away from the first two attacks and wait for the slam attack. When it happens, dodge out of the way and then rush in to attack the boss while he is stunned. Be prepared to dodge out of his counterattack once he takes a few hits. He will keep doing this pattern a few more times and then will summon a large group of doors that will rush at the player. Move out of the path, and then watch for the boss to try to hit with a slam attack after the last passes by. The player can then attack the boss a few times to deal some quick damage. The boss will repeat this whole pattern until enough damage has been dealt to switch to the next phase.

Phase 2 – The player will actually reach a checkpoint here so if they die at any point they will respawn at the beginning of this phase. Equip the Legend of Zelda-esque hookshot spell and start running down the hallway. Dodge the charging bulls that will rush from different sides. At the end of the area, the player will need to use their hookshot to cross a gap, avoid a few more bulls, and then come across the Lord of The Doors. If they are quick they can deal some more damage before the boss passes through a door. The player should follow to go to the next phase.

Phase 3 – This phase is actually very similar to the first as the boss will attack the player with exact same three-hit combo from before. The Lord of Doors won’t use the door attack anymore though and will instead summon three pots that will move around and deal damage to the player if they make contact. Dodge out of the way of these and attack the boss when there is an opening. After taking some damage the Lord of Doors will move on to the next phase.

Phase 4 – This next part can be tricky as it is actually a combination of both the second and third phases. Equip the hookshot again and make it through another long hallway full of bulls. The player will eventually make their way to a new area that resembles the stage from phase three. They will need to fight the boss in the same way that they did before, but after they deal some damage, he will start using a few new attacks against them. The player will see the boss begin to glow a kind of pinkish color before hitting the ground in front of him three times in a row. This will cause a series of pillars to come shooting out of the ground. Move in a circle and dodge out of the way right before these attacks make contact. After that, he will do a three-hit combo and repeat the pattern once again. Eventually, he will move on to another new area.

Phase 5 – Once again the player will first need to deal with an area full of bulls as they rush down a hallway. The player has to be very careful, because the floor ahead of them will have breakable points that can impede their progress. Upon making it to the area where Lord of Doors is, he will immediately roll at the player to attack. Dodge out of the way of this and attack while he recovers. He will then go back and forth between the three-hit combo and the roll attack until the next phase starts.

Phase 6 – This phase is just one last bull hallway so use the same dodging methods and make it down to the end. Once here the player will hit a final checkpoint and will have their health and magic restored. The player should then head down a familiar path and be ready to face the Lord of Doors for the final time.

Phase 7 – During the final phase the Lord of Doors now refers to himself as the Last Lord, and he is ridiculously overpowered compared to his other counterparts. Every ability that the boss was capable of using before is now at his disposal, and can be used at random intervals. If the boss snaps his fingers at the player then three explosive jars will spawn. After dodging this attack, he will intermediately follow up with an older attack.

Another new attack will place a white tracking circle on the player. The player will need to button mash to get out of this circle and avoid taking a huge amount of damage. Careful though, he will also simultaneously use the pillar attack from earlier. The final new attack that the boss employs has him fly up in the air and fire lasers while summoning rampaging bulls to attack. Immediately after this attack ends, he will slam into the ground and potentially start summoning a red orb around him. If this happens, the player should run as far away as possible as he will trigger an AOE attack that will cause a huge amount of damage. The biggest tip is to always be moving, and wait for an opening to get in a few free hits. If they keep this up then the Lord of Doors death will be inevitable.

Death’s Door can be played on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
